HOUSE TWO
Some time ago, I wrote a little article on a form of Karate I had invented. I called this form House. (see ‘Calling All Basics!’)
The reason I called it House was because a House needs good foundation, and this was a basic Form. Seemed logical to me.
What came as a pleasant surprise was that over the years people wrote to me and told me how useful they found this Form. They said it was perfect for teaching beginners, they have created two man versions, and so on.
What I never told anybody was that I had developed a second Form, which I called, logically enough, House Two.
Why I never told anybody, I don’t know, but it is a sad omission on my part. So, to rectify that omission, I have detailed House Two and do present as an article here, on the website, that Form.
Hopefully it will fill in gaps, inspire others, perhaps even be useful.
Here then, is House Two.
0) Stand in the Ready Position.
1) Step forward with the left leg into a Front Stance
as you execute a Double Crossed Wrist Low Block.
2) Shift the weight back into a Back Stance as you
execute a left Inward Middle Block.
3) Shift the weight forward into a Front Stance as
you execute a right Punch.
4) Step forward with the right leg into a Front
Stance as you execute a Crossed Writs High Block.
5) Shift the weight back into a Back Stance as you
retract the left hand to the waist and execute a right
Outward Middle Block.
6) Shift the weight forward into a Front Stance as
you execute a left Punch.
7) Step forward with the left foot as you bring the arms
up and cross them in preparation.
(This is a transitional movement)
8) Finish stepping forward with the left foot into a
Back Stance as you execute Doule Outward Inverted
Middle Blocks.
9) Execute a left Cross Palm block and a left
Locking Snap Thrust Kick.
10) Set the left foot down in a Back Stance
as you execute a right Punch.
11) Pivot into a Horse Stance as you execute
a left horizontal Elbow smash to the right palm.
12) Execute a right high Block and a left Hammer fist.
At this point one can do the form in the other direction (opposite side), or end it.
One can also rearrange the count to suit a class.
Being a simple form, and especially if one has already done the first House, the applications should be fairly obvious.
One thing I should mention, however, and this is for the fellows who have studied the Matrix Karate Course, I have people do the mini-Matrix for House, and the complete Matrix for House Two. This usually matches their speed of learning pretty well.
This doesn’t mean the forms on the course should be put aside, that is a strictly individual decision you make according to how you want to teach the system, or use parts of the system, or etc.
Of course, House and House Two are a little skimpy to make a complete system. One would need to have maybe four or five House Forms to do that. And while I have played around with a House Three, I never really went for a full line up of five forms.
But, who knows what tomorrow brings.
I hope you find this Form pleasing.
