Martial Artist runs into Master Instructor Course and Something Interesting Happens…

Newsletter 885

New Master Instructor!

Congrats to Master Instructor…
Fred Cook!

Here’s Fred’s win…

I found your website and it peaked my interest, I was skeptical though, as the claims were very dramatic and I’ve been a martial artist 29 years and a teacher for 24 of that in multiple disciplines. I figured, I’d pick up a few tips maybe to improve my toolset and all would be good….I….was…Naïve!!!

The old adage, “The more you learn, the more you understand how little you knew,” fully applies here! You see, I was first an assistant instructor, then made a full instructor after 2 years of assisting…it was like trying to learn to swim by being tossed in the deep end of the pool. What your course did was TOTALLY rock my world and adjust my ways of thinking as a teacher…this was truly mind altering stuff and so much quality data, that by the end of it, I sat there quiet…just contemplating everything…..like everything…

Not only was the course immediately jarring and enlightening, but it was simple enough that as the Geico commercials used to say “A caveman could do it.” If anything, you have dramatically understated what you’ve offered in this course. So…what did I learn from this course?

• I learned what makes an art true and why, including how to put together the four facets into a cohesive element.
• I learned more about rooting/grounding than I had in 10 years of Bak Sil Lum, but was expected to know in for lohan Chuan and Baji Chaun.
• I learned the three rules, which other than politeness, I’d never heard before, yet were so simple, as if they were hidden right under my nose the whole time!
• I learned the true meaning of the yin/yang.
• I learned how to teach, so that I didn’t overwhelm a student with data and send them packing. I especially liked the breakdown of teaching a sequence then the bunkai and having the student attempt to ascertain the application so that they feel like they own the technique…BRILLIANT!
• I learned the seven corrections to teach and attain perfect form
• I learned the 2 purposes of the legs and the purpose of a strike….this was exceptional btw!
• I learned the six tools, which I’ve already applied to a dozen of so techniques and have improved from doing so. This alone makes the course worth twice the price!

To say that I learned more from this course than 20 plus years of study, practice and teaching would be a DRASTIC understatement. You have completely changed my view of so much and have in fact made me 10 x’s the instructor that I was….Thank you sir…

If you need to ask any questions on what I’ve garnered from the course before sending me a certificate, feel free anytime sir.

Frederick W. Cook
Sho Dai Soke Renketsu-Te Karate-Do

Thank you, Fred.
Your win is fantastic.
I thank you.

Now,
I know there is a small question coming up.
I offer two courses,

The Master Instructor Course,
The Professional Matial Arts Instructor Course.
What’s the difference?

Good question.

The Master Instructor Course gives the overview,
gives the data,
then the student has to apply it.
It is designed for the fellow
with lots of experience,
or who has at least gone through previous matrixing courses
at Monster Martial Arts.
It is more suited for the dojo.

The Professional Martial Arts Instructor
uses the data of the Master Instructor Course,
but it goes through the moves of the martial arts,
basics, forms, techniques,
everything,
one right after another,
showing fixes for common problems.
It is more suited for teaching in gyms, health clubs, and so on.
It is designed to help people get started teaching MA outside the dojo.

Neither is best,
you just have to figure out which is best for you.
What do you want to do in life?
Are you going to stay in the dojo?
Are you going to head to YMCAs,
fitness centers,
and so on.

Here’s an example of the differences between the courses.

A fellow who takes the Master Instructor course
is given the seven principles of perfect form.
It is up to him to inspect the student,
and see which of the seven principles is out.
This can be tough,
especially if more than one principle is out
stylist interpretations must be made,
and so on.

On the other hand,
a fellow who takes the Professional MA Instructor course
will inspect someone’s form,
he will see,
for instance,
that the student is getting insufficient impact from his front snap kick.
He picks out the correct drill
to help the student fix his form.

You see?
The MI course assumes the instructor is experienced.
The PMAI course doesn’t assume,
and goes through the moves and techniques of the martial arts,
giving hints and fixes galore.

Two different approaches.

I will say that I wrote the PMAI course
to help people break into martial arts teaching.
It can be hard to put the money together for a school,
to survive until the student base is large enough,
sometimes people don’t make it.

On the other hand,
it is easy to get started as a private instructor,
if you get the gym owner to believe in you.
A certificate as a Professional Martial Arts Trainer will help.

I used to charge $100 an hour.
This was back in the eighties.
Helped me get started when I moved to Los Angeles.
People would hand me a check for $500 for five lessons,
it really made my day.

So what you do is up to you,
I’m just trying to give everybody enough options
to make the martial arts a viable career.

You can earn a black belt through the Matrix Karate course,
or other courses.
This is excellent for people with some training,
who want to go all the way,
but just need the data.

Then there is the KangDukWon.com course,
for those who want to go through the traditional training.

Options.
That’s all.

That all said,
Fred picked the option that is excellent for him.
He already has much experience.
You can check out his website here…

(I hope its okay I put this link up, I didn’t ask permission, sorry, Fred.)

So,
again,
thank you,
Master Instructor Fred Cook.

And for all,

First Professional Martial Arts Instructor in History!

Newsletter 884

First Professional Martial Arts Instructor!

Congrats to Professional Martial Arts Instructor…
Lonnie Muhammad!

Lonnie managed to ace the test with a 94.7% score.
Man,
well done!

Lonnie is an old matrixing student,
He was one of the first fellows to get on board,
when MonsterMartialArts.com got started some ten years ago.
I remember him well because
he was teaching self defense to security personnel.
He was using Matrix Aikido and Monkey Boxing techniques
way back then.

Here is his win from way back then…

Mr. Case;
I wanted to let you know that the courses did arrive just before Xmas.  Needless to say, I haven’t been able to spend enough time yet with them.  You know something:  just 5 minutes into the Aikido dvd (which I threw in right away to make sure the dvds were working), I felt as if I had been hit with 2 YEARS of training in the aiki/jujutsu arts.
I conducted a Matrix Aikido training class for a Security Team at a local manufacturing plant. I tailored the training according to their Use Of Force policy. As you know they need control and takedown skills. I knew Matrix Aikido would be the answer. The training plan you shared was boss. The class went so smoothly. The participants learned very quickly. By the end of the class you could see techniques of Monkey Boxing coming through. They were also able to create their own techniques. There was one female officer in the class who asked to become my private student. She was throwing, locking and taking down guys twice her size. The Security Supervisor wants me to come back and with more participants! I’ll keep you posted.
Lonnie

Again,
incredibly well done, Lonnie.
Thank you.

Now,
for all you guys and gals reading this,
and thinking about teaching martial arts,
being a Professional Martial Arts Instructor
will give you a considerable edge
when teaching martial arts.
You can walk into any company,
any health club,
anywhere,
and you have the certificates to back up your knowledge.
Your knowledge has been proven by actual test.

And,
if you have ordered
The Professional Martial Arts Instructor book
you can take the test for free.
it’s part of the deal when you buy the book.
You just have to email me at aganzul@gmail.com
and ask to take the test.

To let you know,
I am still putting the test into digital format,
so I still have to email you the test,
you take it and email it back,
and I then grade it.

If you don’t pass,
you’ll have your mistakes,
you can study and take the test again.
No problem.

This isn’t me scamming for money
by charging huge amounts of money
to take and retake tests
and all that.
This is me validating people who are serious about the martial arts,
in a way that will benefit them
career wise,
financially,
or just in the area of achieved knowledge.
People who know what the martial arts are all about
who know the real reasons behind the martial arts,
are MUCH better martial artists.
They shine.
So,
write me if you have read the book and are ready.

OR…
get the book and get the real knowledge,
and get ready to take the PMAT test.

AND…
if you have any doubts,
you can go here and take a sample of the test…

http://www.martialartsinstructortraining.com/certification-quiz/

I’l tell you right now,
you probably won’t score too well,
most people don’t,
but that’s the point of it all,
to find out what you don’t know,
and get you to know it.

I tell you this…
knowledge is the most precious commodity in the universe.
And,
the martial arts have been taught
monkey see monkey do
for so long,
that the knowledge is confuzzled,
bemused and idiocratic.

So hit that link,
find out if you know anything,
and get started on the path of VERIFIED knowledge.

No more fakers who talk a good game,
a fellow with a PMAT certificate is PROVEN!
He is one smart cookie,
and that’s the truth.
Lonnie will attest to that!

Have a great work out!

Linking Martial Arts Forms to Expand Your Art by Ten Times…

Newsletter 883

Interlinking Martial Arts Forms

Here’s an interesting little trick for you,
one that will open your eyes and expand your art by ten…

I did Kenpo back in 67,
I noticed right away that the forms
were built simple to complex.
Actually,
simple to hard to understand.

You learned your basics with the first two forms,
then everything went haywire,
the forms were lists of techniques,
no real logic behind the sequence of the forms,
or even the relationship of the forms to themselves.
Mind you,
it was fun,
but it was HARD to really learn anything.
You ended up just memorizing,
and doing the martial arts like a dance.

Then I went to the Kung Duk Won
learned the classic Karate forms.
It was still a list of techniques,
but the forms had more meaning,
the arrangement from basics to complex
took on a different meaning.

Before I go on,
here’s a clip from Pinan Five
Give you an idea of how some of this karate stuff works…
https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=Sz1asLo9ktc

Anyway,
before we were so rudely interrupted by the video…
I noticed there was a general trend,
from white belt to black belt,
and the trend went like this…

block then counter
two block and counter
three block and counter
block and counter simultaneous

Do you see the progression?
While it looks like a progression of numbers of blocks,
it was actually a progression of time,
but you might have to see the actual techniques
to understand that particular thing.

One of the things I did
when I started ‘pre-matrixing,’
was make huge lists
of all blocks and counters,
and arrange them according to belt level.
Man,
did that make things easy.

But,
there was something else I noticed at the Kang Duk Won.
The forms expanded on the footwork,
and there was a link between the forms.
Pinan two and four were similar in certain ways.
And Pinan three and five were similar.

This,
again,
I utilized in matrixing.
Not just arranging the numbers of blocks and counters,
but sequencing the blocks and counters in time,
and then…
arranging the forms to accurately represent this linkage.
Zingo bingo,
there was the roots of real matrixing.

So,
go ahead,
do it.
Take your forms,
ask yourself about simplicity and workability,
arrange the techniques,
then arrange your forms,
or rather,
as you will probably have to do,
create new forms to contain
the much more logical and easy to teach techniques.

Guaranteed,
you’re going to twist your head on this stuff,
it took me decades to figure this out,
of course,
I didn’t have the simple things
that I have laid out for you here.

And,
there is an easy way.
Instead of pounding your head in frustration,
instead of doing something with your head
that heads are not well built to do,
just take a gander at

Matrix Karate.

It’s all there.
The linkage of techniques,
the linkage of forms,
freestyle methods to go with belt levels,
AND A BONUS COURSE ON KICKING
with the forms,
the techniques,
and everything in logical order.
AND…
all the distractions of other arts,
arts that do not match up with the basic concepts of karate,
have been eliminated.

Makes for a VERY pure path.
And a very QUICK path.

But don’t believe me.
Twist your head for thirty years,
and then come up with what I already did.

Here’s the link.

Between Hard and Soft Stances in the Martial Arts

Newsletter 882

Hard and Soft Stances in the Martial Arts

One of the things I’m always trying to do
is mix the hard and the soft.
I’ve made pretty good inroads,
you can see me tossing people around
with effortless (intention only) techniques
in Five Army Tai Chi Chuan.

One of the places to start,
with this thing of mixing hard and soft,
is in the stances.

In TCC and PKC one is frequently in motion.
The stances are transitional,
you don’t stop and look at them,
unless you are pile stancing.
(Holding a stance in a static position)

In karate,
and other such arts,
you frequently hit the stance and lock to the ground.
So you have two ways of doing the stances.
Oddly,
all my research has proven to me
that both ways are half the picture,
and there is a ‘more right’ way of doing stances.

The Japanese have a saying:
‘stand squarely in the room.’
This means that you are balanced,
able to move in any direction
and without ‘pre-leaning.’

Taking this as the starting point
I worked with the basic sanchin stance,
but with slightly different emphasis.

The problem with sanchin is that people adapt it to different purposes.
Sanchin is for breathing,
for energy development,
for dynamic tension (muscles)
and so on.

I subscribe to all of those theories in part,
but none by itself.
Rather,
but them all together and cultivate chi power.
(Check out Matrixing Chi book)

So you stand with the feet shoulder width apart,
and one foot in front.
Draw a line, the toes of one foot should touch the line,
and the heel of the other foot should touch the line.

On the surface this is just a sanchin stance,
but you don’t lock yourself down,
you crouch slightly and realize
that with the feet in this position
you can move in any direction
without the need for ‘pre-leaning.’

Thus,
the stance is not dedicated to locking the body down,
but preparing the body for motion in any direction.

It’s not just the power in the legs,
but the slight crouch,
that builds tension
that can be used to propel the body in any direction.

I know,
some fellow is out there saying,
‘you didn’t know that?
Why, in my system we…’

But I have never seen anybody doing this stance
in exactly this way.
It is always locked down
so the person can build power.

Interestingly,
the closest representation to this type of stance
that I have seen,
is in Hsing I.

Now,
once you have played with this stance for a while,
you should put the feet more in line,
forward and back,
and still try to crouch,
to retain the ability to spring,
and the balance in all directions.

Thus,
one could say that in Monkey Boxing
there are only two stances.

Except that there aren’t.
But there are two concepts,
and the stances are built on these concepts.

But it might be that all studies of stances are merely an attempt
to manifest what I’ve said here:

the ability to spring in any direction without ‘pre-leaning,’

The hard isn’t right,
nor the soft,
rather,
they combine in a stance/concept that is overlooked.

Power in Karate versus Power in Kung Fu

Newsletter 881

Comparing the Power of Karate to the Power of Kung Fu

The instructors in Karate and Kung Fu
don’t tell you what I am about to tell you.
The reason is simple,
they don’t know,
or if they do know,
they don’t really understand.
Which is to say they surround it in mystical terms.
With Matrixing,
of course,
there are no mystical terms.
There is only the real science of the martial arts.

So,
power in karate comes from:
sinking the weight
thrusting the weight
turning the hips

This is simple stuff,
most instructors might know one or two of these things,
never all three…
AND THEY DON’T KNOW HOW TO USE THEM TO CREATE THE FOURTH POWER!
chi.

But this is covered in depth in The Master Instructor’s course.
For here and now,
let it suffice to say
that every move should have these three items,
and in the proper mix.

Now,
power in Kung Fu is similar:
dropping the weight
thrusting the weight
turning the whole body

It’s funny,
the two arts have the same principles
but they are different in a super major aspect.
That aspect is turning the hips (karate)
versus turning the whole body (Kung Fu)

Karate tends to turn the hips in a tight area.
putting the body weight into the strike very efficiently.

Kung Fu turns the whole body,
which includes the hips,
in a larger area.

Now,
don’t get me wrong,
there are going to be some arts
some techniques,
which overlap in this analysis.
And there is a simplicity here
which might be misleading.

But if you look at Shaolin on youtube,
and I use Shaolin as the example because it is considered
(by many)
to be the grandfather of the martial arts,
you will often find the body spinning in a large circle.
Sometimes it will end in a stance with an explosion,
but the power was generated by spinning the whole body,
then condensing the power manufactured in the spin
and sticking it into the technique.

I have come across descriptions of Shaolin
which talk about the axis of the body
(the centerline of north and south pole,
or crown and anus)
spinning,
and the rest of the body being a ‘flag.’
And this then gets real mystical.
I recommend Tai Chi Touchstones,
if you are interested in deciphering this.
Touchstones is not totally scientific,
but being translated by a westerner
(Douglas Wile)
it is couched in terms that can be taken as scientific.

Anyway,
we are talking two different methods here,
but based on the same principles,
with one of the principles expanded.
Which one is right?

They are both right.
You just have to know how to develop each method of power,
and then know when to use them.

So,
I usually just say
go check out the Master Instructor course.
But let me give you the two arts discussed here.
The whole arts on the courses,
forms, techniques, theory, everything.
You can easily develop the two types of power.

http://monstermartialarts.com/martial-arts/matrix-karate/

http://monstermartialarts.com/martial-arts/6-shaolin-butterfly/

Check them out,
they are easy to understand,
because they aren’t written mystically,
but rather scientifically.
Matrixing, ya know.

Have a great work out!

Real Martial Arts Power through Karate Stances

Newsletter 880

The Secret of Power in Karate!

I read an article on karate a while ago,
and the author made an interesting claim:
he stated that stances were basically for calisthenics.
That’s it,
no other reason for stances.

Well,
there’s a bozo born every minute.

Look,
I’ll tell you the truth here,
but don’t tell anybody.
It’s a secret.
Shhh!

When you stand,
your legs are straight.
You are at rest.
Standing up you are resting.

Bend the legs a bit
and you have to do a little work.
Bend the legs a lot
and you have to do a lot of work.

Okay,
that’s a calisthenic.
BUT,
sink into that horse stance,
hold it,
relax and breath downwards,
extend your hands,
and you will feel your fingers tingle.
Try it.
If you don’t feel anything,
you need to do it a few times
until you do.
You need to relax
and let your awareness grow
until you can perceive what is happening
in your body.

What is that tingling?
It is energy.
The body has an energy center called the Tan Tien (jap),
it is located about two inches below the navel.
Doing a horse stance excites that energy center.
It has to work harder to hold the stance.
That energy can be used in other parts of the body.
Do a punch in conjunction with a horse stance
and the punch is stronger.

Every stance in the martial arts,
if done correctly,
results in this energy building.
Every block or strike
if done correctly
should tap into this energy.

Correctly,
as described in the matrix courses.

If you treat the stances like calisthenics,
your legs will get stronger.
If you learn what the stances are for,
learn how to relax and breath into every technique,
you will build this thing called chi power.

Almost no martial artists in America have this power.
They did 40 or 50 years ago,
but people lost the ideas behind what they were doing,
so the kata became ‘exercise.’
The techniques became ritual.
And people with short attention spans,
who had not delved into the martial arts,
and certainly not understood the martial arts,
began teaching calisthenics.
They lost the power.

Now,
if you want to know the actual truth
behind how to build such things as chi power,
I’ve shown it in my courses.
You can order almost any course,
and I will show the the basic-basics
so you can make chi,
and I will show you in the videos.

I’ve also written about it.

http://monstermartialarts.com/martial-arts/4c-matrixing-chi-power/

It’s a simple book,
simple concepts,
but they aren’t known,
have been pretty much forgotten
and they are alien to the P. E. you have in high school
so I spent 150 pages to make sure
the descriptions could be understood.
and over 160 pics and graphics.

And,
if you doubt,
check out the video on this page.
that’s me projecting chi outside my body.
Not punching from an inch away to put out a candle,
but flicking my fingers from over a foot away
so that the candle gutters out

Better Take a Knife to a Gunfight!

Truth about People with Guns and Martial Arts!

I came across some AMAZING statistics!
You’ve got a gun,
you think you’re safe.
Maybe you even laugh at those pajama clad Karate fools.

‘I’ know Ching Ching Pow!’
(You make the sound of chambering a shotgun.)
Ha ha.

Or,
‘I know Smith and Wesson!’

Or some other silly joke
designed to make you the laugh of the party,
and fun of those people who sweat their buns off
learning martial arts.

Well,
stupid,
I have news for you.
And I do mean stupid.
The FBI compiled statistics on officer involved shootings.
Officer involved means a professional gun wielder
with at least SOME training.
Here go…

• 86% officers were killed within 21 feet of their attackers
• 73% officers were killed within 10 feet or less
• And a whopping 52% (over HALF!) were killed from 5 FEET AWAY OR LESS.

And,
a high percentage of officers
were shot with their own guns!

And a high percentage of officers never even had a chance to align their sights.

So these professionals,
many of whom had training,
even military training,
died because they got up close and personal
and didn’t know what to do.

Didn’t know what to do,
as in didn’t know a martial art.

So,
if you’re one of these stupid yocks
who make jokes about
martial arts being like
taking a knife to a gunfight,
be aware that the knife
has a BETTER THAN 50% CHANCE OF WINNING!

All right.
This is a newsletter.
I’m selling something.
In this case I’m selling
THE MOST EFFICIENT METHOD
for dealing with weapons,
which means knife fighting,
taking away knives,
and scrunching armed idiots into the ground.

The Secret to REALLY Good Martial Arts!

Newsletter 878

THE SUMMER OF SUPER MARTIAL ARTS!

Happy hot day to you!
Hot days are the best days,
the work outs sweat you hard
and you detox the body.
Do it!

One thing people should remember,
when it comes to the martial arts,
is that they are not all hard,
nor all soft.

Take a look at Morihei Ueshiba.
Guy studied some serious hard arts
before he came up with peace and love.

How about Tai Chi?
Those soft moves
are backed up by some brutal moves.

So what does this mean?
It means you have study both the hard and the soft.
You can’t study one without the other.

Now,
eventually,
if only by age and injuries,
your hard art will soften up.
Then comes enlightenment
and a profound appreciation for both sides of the yin yang.

But why wait forty years?
Why risk not making it to forty years
and not even discovering the other side of the art,
of yourself?

I’ll tell you the truth here:
when people ask me why my karate punches are so effective,
I tell them Tai Chi.
When people ask me why my Tai Chi is so effective
I tell them Karate.

That’s the truth.
Because I know what a hard punch is,
I have been able to develop tai chi to handle them.
Because I know what sensitivity and balance are
I have been able to develop Karate beyond simple muscles.

Okay,
I know I’m preaching to a a few of the choir here,
but there are others out there
who need to know this.
Who need to do some Tai Chi or Aikido
to go along with their punchology.
And there are others
who need to beef up their punches
with some good old karate or kung fu,
if they are going to evolve
their sweet and sensitive side.

On How to Beat up A Mixed Martial Artist!

Newsletter 877

Have You Beaten Up a Mixed Martial Artist Lately?

Happy freedom to all!

Got an most interesting email,
So interesting that I started to respond,
and couldn’t.
In spite of the fact that the writer sounded like a nice guy,
and appreciated Matrixing.
The statement he posed
just didn’t fit.

He wanted to know if I had trained anyone
to use matrixing against MMA.

On the surface,
it’s a pretty harmless question,
sort of interesting,
should be easy to answer,
right?

Except that matrixing is about putting logic into the martial arts.
It is about learning enough about the martial arts,
all martial arts,
that you understand how they fit together.

It is about the martial arts as one art.
It is not about the martial arts as separate entities
that oppose one another.

Yes,
one could learn enough martial arts that one could defeat an MMA stylist.
Or a Kung Fu stylist,
or any other specific style of art.

But that isn’t the point!
And I certainly don’t want to get embroiled
in that question that divides all martial arts…

‘Which is the best martial art.’

which question rapidly transitions into…

‘My art is better than yours,’
or
‘this art is better than that,’
or
‘my daddy can beat up your daddy.’

Heck,
the best martial art is the one you study,
and when you change arts,
when you look further afield,
when you expand your thinking and viewpoint,
then your new martial art
is the new best martial art.

Look,
if you study matrixing,
figure out the logic behind the martial arts,
you become intuitive.
You become a better fighter.
You become a better martial artist.

The point of matrixing is to help you
appreciate your martial art as the best martial art,
to figure it out so there are no mysteries,
so that you understand everything about it.

And to figure out everything about the next art you study,
and then to put them together until…
your art is separate and unique.

You see,
the martial arts are taught by style and system.
But the real martial art is the one that grows in you.
All those styles and systems contribute
to the unique take you have on the martial arts.

Matrixing just makes that happen,
the point of matrixing is to build you,
to help you create your own art,
taking the pieces from all others,
to make an art that is perfectly suited to you.

So I can’t handle the question
that poses one art against another art.
All arts are good,
you just have to explore them
find out all about them
then put them together your own.

Matrixing is the science that helps you do that.

Matrix Karate is just a piece of it,
a logical slice of certain concepts.
Matrix Kung Fu,
same thing.
And so on,
through all the arts I teach.

Is there a Matrix MMA?
Of course there is.
But I don’t know it because I haven’t studied MMA.
But somebody,
one of you,
has.
And that person will assemble the techniques using matrixing,
will write a matrix,
or compile some graphs,
so that MMA is logical and easier…
and faster…
to learn.
But this will not happen if people hold to the idea that MMA
is part of an arena of the martial arts.

It will only happen if somebody realizes that MMA
is a slice of the whole,
and studies enough arts,
and enough matrixing,
and enough MMA,
to figure out how it all fits into the scheme of things,
and can appreciate the whole picture of the martial arts
from the MMA point of view.

Anyway,
that’s probably what I should have answered,
but,
as you can see from the rant here,
I was just too boggled
by the spirit of the question.

So go here…

http://monstermartialarts.com/martial-arts/evolution-of-a-martial-art/

This has three arts,
kung fu through classical karate through modern karate,
read these three arts,
do these three arts,
then check your understanding of Karate.
Guaranteed,
you will be bigger and better,
and you won’t be guilty of the silliness
of thinking one style of karate is better than another,
and that is a heck of a good way
to start your study of the real martial arts,
the complete and total martial arts,
that includes ALL martial arts.

Have a great work out!

Tough Enough to Deserve Martial Arts!

Newsletter 876

Martial Arts and the Revolutionary War of 1776!

Happy Fourth of July!
Make sure you work out extra hard,
so you can say you deserve your freedom.
What do I mean by that?
Read on, brother and sisters…

Back in 1777 – 1778,
there was this place called Valley Forge.
General Washington was backed into a freezer,
the British were kicking back by the hearth and sipping rum,
and them silly colonists
were freezing their BUTTS off!
Seriously.

As the winter wore on,
Washington’s army starved,
their clothes rotted and fell off,
and their shoes gave way.
They wrapped their feet in rags,
and left bloody footprints in the snow.

So get the picture.
Old men with grey beards,
young men,
mere boys of maybe 12 or 13,
gathered around the campfire.
They put their feet to the coals,
and read this thing called ‘Common Sense.’
They weren’t an educated bunch,
so they had to explain things to each other,
while they massaged their feet,
and retied the rags around them.

If somebody had to go on guard duty,
they would throw their tricorn hats on the ground
and walk on the brims
stomping their feet to keep the circulation going.

Toes were lost,
frozen on the foot.
Limbs were lost,
sawed off without painkillers
and tossed outside a tent into a pile.
People died,
froze to death,
stacked like wood
to await a thaw
so they could be buried.

It was cold.

But,
when winter was over,
those colonists marched out of that frozen hell of a valley.
They weren’t afraid,
because they had survived
the worst mother nature could throw at them.
In fact,
they were hardened.
They were tempered.
They were tougher than the British
who had spent that winter sipping rum
and telling ribald stories
and making fun of those fools
a couple of valleys over
who didn’t know enough
to come in out of the cold.

That was the turning point of the revolutionary war.
There were lots of other things that contributed,
spies and Von Steuben,
citizens that sent guns and ammo and food,
but it was that frozen winter
when the farmer/soldier of the United States
found out what he was made of
that made the difference.
Death didn’t seem like much
after that winter at Valley Forge.

Fast forward to today,
you don’t have to freeze,
you don’t have to march through the snow without shoes,
all you have to do is go to class,
stand in the horse stance for a while,
practice punching people,
endure a few bruises and a black eye.
That’s all.

Because that little bit of ‘suffering’
reminds you of the real pain
that the revolutionary martial artists had to go through.
Understand that,
and you are deserving of freedom,
because,
let me tell you this…

If you fight to make yourself strong enough
and smart enough,
to retain freedom,
then you are deserving of freedom.

And that is the truth of this country.

So go here

http://monstermartialarts.com/martial-arts/3a-blinding-steel-matrixing-weapons/

and learn the truth about fighting with weapons,
make yourself as strong as a 1776 colonist
and deserving of freedom.

Now,
whoever you are,
wherever you are,
tomorrow is a celebration of freedom,
it is not just for the US of A,
but for any person in the world
who believes that man should be free
that life should be lived without encumbrance
and that the spirit of mankind should prevail.

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!
and have a great work out!
