Republished a Martial Arts Book!

I republished Chiang Nan as a video course book

It’ll be available on Amazon in a day or two.
It has links to about five hours of video.

So far I have several books repub-ed as ‘video course books.’

How to Fix Karate 1
How to Fix Karate 2
Shaolin Butterfly (the butterfly form) (Kindle)
Shaolin Butterfly
Nine Square Diagram Boxing
Hidden Techniques of Karate (Chiang Nan)

Sales are good, and I thank you.
and I’ll be doing more books,
and writing new ones.
I have a couple of hundred hours of video
that have never seen the light of day,
so I’m looking forward to that.

And,
the courses are still the best source of information.
They have all the videos,
the best videos,
and all the bonuses.

Anyway,
I had a fellow asking about the usage of the hips in the martial arts.

The hips are the cornerstone of the martial arts,
because that is where the major weight of the body resides.
If you hit somebody,
try to get your whole body behind the strike (block)
If you have to move out of the way,
you have to move the hips to effectively move the body.
Unless you want to bend at the hips and be out of balance.
We used to have an exercise.
We would hold a broom stick across the front of hips
then slam the hips back and forth,
pivoting from one front stance to another.
We would judge out effectiveness
by how well the tips of the broom stick
would snap into place.
Really got us centered down.

But here’s the funny thing,
each art has a specific to the hips.
Consider that there were only three directions that the hips can go,
forward, down and rotational.
In karate you thrust.

You drive the hips forward and align them with the strike or block.
In Pa Kua Chang you rotate the hips.
In Aikido you rotate the hips.
But in all arts you must sink the hips.

Sinking the hips connects with the ground,
braces your technique on the earth itself,
and you might consider a small study in physics
concerning the idea of grounding.
Understand what a ground is in electronics,
what it is in architecture,
and so on,
and suddenly you have the idea.

You see most people don’t understand
that their body is a machine
and that it must function as a machine.
Instead, they get emotional,
they start putting their attention (intention)
on their head,
and the body becomes up rooted easily.

One of my big kicks
was to show somebody how to ground.
I would push on their shoulders
and show them how to let the force
go through their bodies and into the ground.
Then,
when they had it,
I would simply say ‘look up,’
and they would fly away.

The col thing was that after I had done that a few times,
people started learning how to put their intention down,
and not be distracted by up.

In other words,
they learned not to be dependent upon their eyes.
They learned intention
without the distraction of the earthly senses.
Very interesting.

Want to know something REALLY interesting?
I would take a student and deliver strikes and have him give the blocks.
Easy peasy, he’s got it in no time.
Then I would have him close his eyes and I would say,
‘I am striking you slowly,
block when you feel it.’

Sometimes my strike would touch them.
Sometimes they would feet it coming too soon.
But eventually, and we’re talking about an hour or so,
even spread out over a couple of classes,
they would feel me coming and get it right.
Blew their minds.

You don’t need your eyes.
You don’t need your ears.
You just need to know where you are
and forget about what is happening.
It’s that easy,
and it changes everything you do.
It’ll change the way you move.
It’ll change the way you fight.
But don’t believe me.
Try it, you’ll like it.
But you should practice your forms a whole lot
before you try it.
The forms enable you to learn control and discipline,
and control and discipline
is what the martial arts are all about.

Anyway,
I’ll talk more on this stuff some day,
but for now,
check out my books from above
and have a great day.

HAVE A GREAT WORK OUT!

A New Master Instructor!

Newsletter 1053

Great Knife Fighting video…

Good morning!

And congratulations to

Master Instructor Craig Palenzuela

Here’s part of Craig’s win from doing the course…

-Thank you for writing this! I found this easy to follow and understand. I’m very happy I took a chance this.

-This course was a win! The biggest win I had in this course is it solidified for me that I have been right all along in my methods than others “more experienced” because of a “rank.”

-The reality is, a lot of the material I already knew. However I never had anyone explain it in a technical and mechanical way. The examples of the 4 powers and the 6 tools to me were damn near mind blowing. It was the smack on the forehead “oh yeah that’s right” moment.

It cleaned up a lot of the “clutter”. Now, as I mentioned a lot of this material I knew. I was very fortunate to train with Master John Wesley Shepherd who was trained by the late GM Sherman Harrell who was directly trained by GM Tatsuo Shimabukuru, the founder of Isshinryu. He used to explain things in a similar fashion. Sadly, he was never around enough and we were mostly taught by his big brother Billy who is an excellent practitioner but as a teacher………. you get the idea.

We spent a lot of the times teaching ourselves. Because of this, maybe we ourselves stumbled onto these lessons when you combined grown men from different occupations and backgrounds. Fast forward years later after our school closed down, I begin training in Escrima de Cuerdas, an art founded by a simple carpenter the late GM Liborio Heyrosa who couldn’t read or write. He was subsequently trained directly by the late GM Venancio Anciong Bacon (founder of Balintawak) and Nene Rosales a famous Filipino fencer.

– It (this course) helped me tremendously because regardless that the Philippines is a former U.S. Commonwealth, sometimes there is a bit of a language barrier. Some of these lessons did not translate. Your lessons created the bridge. Now everything made sense. The part that also helped tremendously was as we were all taught that it should be one continuous motion or no wasted motion but you explained it and demonstrated in a way that made sense…

The other thing that opened my eyes the most was the body testing. In Isshinryu for us this is common…….when performing Sanchin. I’ve never seen this done while throwing a basic straight punch. Heck, I never even thought of it myself. This to me is the highlight of the read/videos. I’m sure some will say I’m nuts but that’s what it was to me. I can’t wait to try this on everything but it also helped to perfect every technique within a kata. I now see each movement as unique.

Can’t wait to download the Matrix Karate Course! And also, thank you!

Thank you, Craig.

And well done.

Interestingly,

Craig says he knew a lot of the material before,

he is exactly the SECOND person who has said this about the course.

This is after me selling the course for 15 years.

what is of interest is that Craig says

they ‘spent a lot of time teaching ourselves.’

This is actually one of the reasons I figured this out.

My instructor hardly ever said anything,

and in the silence I had to figure things out.

My father was an engineer

and I was raised with an eye towards physics and mechanics,

and that is probably my secret.

You see the martial arts have been handed down

mostly through oral tradition,

and that is a fine way to build up mysticism.

The result is teachers use examples that are unique to their culture,

and fail to impart the actual mechanics and physics of the art.

Anyway,

Again,

congrats to Craig,

and well done.

Now,

thank you to those who have purchased the book courses on Amazon.

I’ve got two of them up right now,

How to Fix Karate

and

The Shaolin Butterfly.

These are books,

but with links to the videos from the actual courses included.

This is a real step forward for saving money,

and for getting the full course.

And,

I’ve included a video this week.

I’ve got hundreds of these snippets.

I once sold them as a course which six whole people purchased.

So I’ll probably pop them into the newsletter,

won’t be any order,

but they’re a lot of fun,

and pretty educational.

So have fun and enjoy,

and if you like these snippets make sure

you subscribe to the blog at MonsterMartialArts.

Karate Freestyle over the Years!

Comparing Karate Over the Decades!

Hi guys and gals,

I want to talk about the differences

between freestyle over the years.

But, first…

I am closing a few sites.

I’ll keep the monster up,

and a couple of others,

but I’ve got 7 or 8 websites that are going down.

Simply,

the webhoster is so incompetent,

and moving the sites and repairing them…

it’s just not worth it.

The KangDukWon.com website is gone.

If you are mid lesson, let me know.

And,

there is a bigger reason.

Advertising on Google is silly,

and I have found the best way to market my courses

is to change them into books on Amazon.

So I’ve got the How to Fix Karate books up there,

and The Shaolin Butterfly.

And I’ll have more,

but I’m making these changes

because the internet is changing.

And I will consider certificates for a couple of the courses.

The Matrix Karate course,

the Master Instructor course,

and a few others.

Okay,

Karate has degraded over the years.

Badly.

I do all arts,

but my base art is karate,

and this degrading of art is hurtful.

So this is what I want you to do.

Go to Youtube and find 1970 Karate.

That was when I learned,

and you can see hard techniques,

lots of good control,

and sportsmanship.

I knew a lot of the guys in this clip.

Then look for 1980s karate.

These guys are marginally better,

but they are dancing around more

(courtesy of Bruce)

and their control isn’t as good.

Then find

Old School Karate VS Modern Karate Tournaments

The music probably wasn’t needed,

it becomes a put down,

but the point is…

what happened?

Parents.

Children.

Politics.

Money.

protective gear.

Some other stuff, too.

Society has become drugged out,

education has become political indoctrination,

but I don’t really want to go into those things.

I want to discuss the big five.

Parents sign their children up to defend themselves,

but if there is an ‘owie,’

bang—those kids are gone.

I’ve taught classes to kids,

as soon as I get even the teensiest bit down and dirty,

the parents glare at me like I’m abusing their children.

Children.

If the kid goes home and complains that it’s too hard,

Bang—those kids are gone.

Parents have totally bought into the idea

that their little snowflake dumpling needs reassurance

and not hard work.

Politics.

People would rather talk than work out.

Whenever I had a talker I would focus on him till

he started working, or left.

I had no room in any of my schools for people

who didn’t want to sweat.

Money.

To stay in business you need it.

But if you are lowering standards to keep people

you aren’t teaching karate.

Protective gear.

People think you need to hit harder,

or can hit harder,

so they give up learning control.

And control is CRUCIAL to the martial arts.

But people buy into protective gear because

the school owners push it because

it makes them a profit

and they can stay in business

and lower their standards.

So,

what do you do?

Find a hard class that works hard.

Find the fellows that work the hardest and pair up with them.

Teach a hard class and take no prisoners.

I couldn’t believe it,

I was astounded,

I was actually shocked,

the first time a fellow stepped off the mat

so he could get a drink of water.

“But I was thirsty!” he explained.

And I said,

“In a real fight you’re going to stop everything

and get a drink of water because you’re thirsty?”

Want a real story of tough?

I was teaching a bunch of guys,

and my son was among them.

After some six months

Aaron complained of chest pain.

When I looked

he had an indentation on his sternum.

Somebody had actually punched a dent in his chest.

Doctor said to take a few weeks off,

it would heal.

I said, ‘Okay, you’re off for a few weeks.’

Aaron said, ‘No, I’m not.’

We argued and I put down the law.

I was a bit surprised when he showed up for class.

I said,

“Get the F out.”

He said,

“You’re going to have to make me.”

Argh!

So I could have gotten physical

which would have caused damage,

or I could let him stay,

in which case he only ‘might’ get damaged.

So he stayed.

I was always proud of the fact

that he had the real spirit.

Willing to work

even to the point of injury,

and beyond.

Mind you,

I still don’t think he should have been in the class,

I believe in taking care of injuries,

but he was so tough

that I couldn’t stop him.

And that means he can’t be stopped in life.

Because the dojo is a microcosm.

It is a little life in which lessons are learned.

And when I watch these pattycake sessions

that people think are real Karate,

I feel so incredibly sad.

Okay,

ROLLING FIST VIDEOS ADDED

Hi guys and gals,

I put a bunch of new videos on the Rolling Fists course.

If you have gotten the course,

check out the new videos.

I have a ton of videos I’ve never released,

so I picked through them for the Monkey Boxing ones

that had to do with the Rolling Fists.

The quality of the videos on the course isn’t always the best,

my camera was breaking down.

So these new videos were taken for the Monkey Boxing course,

with a new camera,

and I was more seasoned.

So if you bought the course,

go to the download page and scroll to the bottom.

Here’s a drill I do.

Better hand speed,

Increase the power,

and there are tons of techniques in this vid

which is on the Rolling Fists course.

MB 26 Matrixing Rolling the Wall

Okay,

Let’s talk.

I’m going to tell you how to hit harder.

It’s going to get a little weird,

but that’s okay.

You like weird, right?

You will notice in the drill above

that I hit the bag pretty hard.

But there’s a trick to it.

The trick is not to hit with muscle,

but to hit with the weight of the whole body.

I’ve said it before,

the secret of a punch

is how much weight you can transfer to your opponent.

Can you put enough weight on his body that it overwhelms his structure?

So, you practice moving forward a couple of inches.

You don’t focus on the muscles,

on the biceps,

on the arms,

on how hard you can hit.

You focus on moving your whole RELAXED body.

You practice having an unbendable arm upon impact.

An arm weighs twenty pounds.

You build the muscle, increase the speed

and you get to a hundred pounds,

but you’re working your ass off to make that happen.

If you just synchronize your fist,

so that impact lands with the weight of the whole body,

then your punch,

with very little effort,

is going to be more than you weigh.

You weigh 200 pounds?

Excellent.

With little training you have a 200 pound punch.

Plus.

Oh, you’re a frail little girl?

You only weigh a 100 pounds?

Don’t try to out muscle the big thug,

just move your body in so that your 100 pounds lands on him.

Plus.

If you watch me in the video above you can see exactly what I’m doing.

I don’t move with frantic speed,

I conserve motion, make tight circles, and shuffle forward.

Now it gets weird.

Want to make the punch even harder?

When you punch look inside your body

and look for what part of your body gives way.

Does the shoulder go up?

Practice keeping it low.

Don’t let your body part show the shock of impact.

Practice punching in this manner

until your body does not reveal any of the weight

that you are so freely giving.

Does the hip lag?

Work on the hip.

Does the elbow collapse?

Work on the elbow.

Do you see what I’m doing?

I’m using impact on my body when I punch as biofeedback

to see what part of my body needs to be improved.

You can’t do that with big, old muscle punches.

You can only do it with moving the whole body RELAXED.

Energy flows more efficiently through a body that is relaxed.

That is a matrixed fact.

Heck.

It’s downright neutronic!

And,

if you think about what I’m doing,

by relaxing and looking into specific body parts

I am tapping into internal energy.

It amazes people when I seem motionless,

stick out my fist,

and they fly away,

feeling like a horse has kicked them.

So use this concept when you’re practicing the Rolling Fists Drill,

which I also call Rolling the Wall,

Or Lop Sau (Rolling Fists) bagwork,

or whatever.

Guaranteed,

your punch will rival any ‘old master,’

and without all the work.

Don’t fight harder, fight smarter.

Okay,

Rolling Fists!

Secrets of the Rolling Fist!

Secrets of the Rolling Fist!

Thanks to everybody who purchased
How to Fix Karate (Vol one and two)

I want to talk about the Rolling Fist today.
You’ll see smalls sections on the Rolling Fist
on a couple of courses,
and there is a larger course where I go into it in detail.
The reason the Rolling Fist drill is so important
is that it is the most efficient way to teach real fighting in the world.
Period.
And there is a reason for this.
I’ve told everybody,
but nobody gets it,
so let me build up to it,
and tell you the secret
so you’ll never forget.

But,
so you can understand what I’m saying,
take a look at this clip.
This is me working with a fellow
who has a moderate understanding of Lop Sau.
We’re not working on the basics,
but how to translate Lop Sau into grab arts.

You’ve watched it?
Okay,
you’ve got the gist,
so here we go.

When you do the rolling fist
you are basically taking turns rolling a backfist in,
back and forth,
and there is a scientific assortment
of secondary techniques
that takes into account
virtually every attack in the martial arts.
If not through the logic of Rolling Fists,
then through the application of a few moves of the form.

If you stay inside the drill
you can’t be beat.
If you leave the drill you leave an opening.
If you leave an opening that’s where you need to rely
on the few isolated moves from the forms.

What people don’t realize
when they are doing this drill
is that you are NOT suppose to hit the other fellow.
You are teaching him how to block.
You already know how to hit him,
so what’s the point?
Teaching somebody how to block,
or handle an attack intuitively…
that’s the point.

Let me ask you a question now.
If you keep hitting somebody,
will they trust you?
No.
And if they don’t trust you
they won’t trust your data,
and they won’t input your data,
which means they won’t be able to learn.

And you have to be especially careful of this
when you are teaching somebody.

You must teach the student to trust you.
Then they will stop trying to stop you,
and they will stop stopping themselves from learning.

If they trust you they will take your data.

After you have learned how to trust somebody
you must learn how to trust the enemy.

That’s right.
This is real zen,
but it is the truth of the real martial artist.

I’ve had people ask me:
how can you like that person.

I say,
because I trust them.

They say,
but he’s a liar and a thief!

I say,
I trust him to be a liar and a thief.

And here we are at root of it all.

Trust.
And you’ll become a superior martial artist.
And this is the secret of Lop Sau.
That and a thousand hours of training.

Here’s the obligatory ad for Rolling Fists…

4ac Rolling Fists

And,
last thing,
I broke The Shaolin Butterfly course down
and made a book out of it.
It’s not the complete course,
it doesn’t have the nine square forms on it,
but it has all the smaller forms and two man forms.
Best of all,
I have included links to the videos on the course.
It offers a good option to people interested.

It’ll be up on Amazon in a couple of days,
probably by Tuesday,
so start looking for it.

Fighting Without Fighting!

Newsletter 1049 ~ subscribe on the right…

I want to talk about
fighting without fighting,
but first…

Thanks to everybody for making How to Fix Karate a Success!
It’s on Amazon.

Now then…
Fighting without fighting.
First, you have to learn to fight.
Nothing stops a fellow from trying to mug you
like him knowing you’re going to come out on top.
Get your black belt,
get zen confidence,
nobody is going to bother you.
You learned to fight so you don’t have to fight.

This is the crux of the second amendment,
for those of you who wondered.

So,
somebody STILL wants to fight.
This is the one that it took me years to figure out,
and that nobody knows.
I figured it out while figuring out Neutronics.

In this universe there are only objects that move around.
So you’re sitting there peacefully,
and some guy starts moving towards you
and he wants to conk you.
I simply say,
‘you’re coming towards me.’
And he goes away.
Isn’t that weird?

His body is part of the universe,
and his motion has been detected,
and let me tell give you a little bit of data.
The guy that wants to hit you
doesn’t want to be hit.
Except for the truly insane,
nobody wants to be hit,
and the insane don’t really want to either,
if you dig into them a bit.

So you can defeat anybody
simply by observing that they are coming towards you.
They know you see them,
and they don’t want to get hit,
so they leave.

Now,
here is the truly amazing thing about this,
it works against almost any sentient thing.
I’ve used it when a dog wanted to bite me.
A couple of times.

I’ve used it against salespeople.
Isn’t that a kick in the head?
But salespeople who seek you out,
or are a little too much in their sales pitch,
are trying to bully you into something you don’t want.
you just look at them and say,
“You’re coming towards me.”

I’ve used it against people who were bullies.

I’ve used it against people who simply bugged me.

I’ve even used it against those most dangerous of souls…Karens!

However,
it might not work if you haven’t studied martial arts
and gained that peace of soul
that is the end result of the real martial arts.

And I would be careful in a combat zone.
People in riot are not sentient,
take a look at the Kyle Rittenhouse situation if you doubt.

You can use deviations.
‘I see you’ is good.
And there are others.
But the main thing is to see them,
and let them know they’ve been seen.

Okay,
hope you have fun with this one,
and here’s the obligatory ads,

The whole book is over 400 pages,

with a book that size.
And, the cost for a book that size becomes exorbitant.
But…

volume one is at

And volume two is at…

I will be coming out with hard cover versions.

And thanks to all who have purchased volume one.
Any five star reviews would be appreciated.

Okay,
let’s talk.

Got an email the other day,
and we were talking about force and flow.
And the concept of flow as more than just motion came up.

So,
let me explain.
Flow is motion
force is no motion.
This is not quite right,
of course.
force is going to be when two flows collide
and create other motion.
But it all becomes martial pertinent when you say

‘If the force is greater flow it,
if the flow is greater force it.’

Then you can consider force as no motion,
but it is really the moment when flow changes.

But this is all complicated when you take the mind into account.
flow is motion
emotion is motion inside the head.
read that again.
Make sure you understand it.

The point is that you need to rid your head of emotion
if you want to perceive motion correctly.
Emotion can slant your perception of motion.

But now things get interesting.
The body is a motor.
It can have motion.
But the mind just sits in the head,
or thereabout,
and it can create emotion outside the body.
(Actually, it’s not the mind,
it is the spirit,
the mind is just a bunch of memory)

Let me explain.
Joe Blow gets emotion,
there’s all this anger running around inside his head.
With most humans the anger can get a little outside the head.
You can feel when somebody is angry.
It’s just…’in the air.’

But once somebody can control emotion,
he becomes more able to project emotion.
Mind you,
he doesn’t project willy nilly,
like a person out of control,
he projects with intention,
and you can fill the air with emotion.
You can stop people coming at you with emotion,
and you can control people with this kind of emotion.

When you are strong enough,
in control enough,
to project emotion,
it doesn’t feel like emotion.
It feels like…flow.

It is like an actual swirling in the air.

This is because it is not anger.
It is not out of control baby emotion,
it is full grown emotion moved around by…intention.
Your will.
Your desire to make things happen
on a much higher level
than normal people are aware of.

So this is what is in my mind
when I speak of force, flow, emotion, and that sort of thing.

If you practice karate
or other classical arts
long and hard enough,
this all becomes second nature.
Matrixing,
of course,
will speed up your growth of these abilities.
It is just logical and makes sense,
and the concepts of the martial arts are easier to understand.

All right!
I know you are doing fine!
People who study the martial arts are ALWAYS fine!
So…
‘The Book’ is published.
At least the first half is.

How to Fix Karate (Volume One)

The book is over 400 pages long.
It comes in two volumes because
I can’t put that much material in a single volume.

The book presents eight forms,
the basic forms of karate.

Book one dissects Pinan One and throws it out.
Yep.
All the way out.
And the reasons are delineated in detail.

I give you the ‘New Pinan One,’
which is Matrix One.
A MUCH more intelligent form.
And I give you all the reasons,
and show you how to make 16-20 techniques from that one form.

I then have sections for
what is wrong with pinan two and
how to fix it
what is wrong with pinan three and
how to fix it.

The remainder of the forms,
including advanced materials and
a whole video course
(Matrix Combat),
are in the second book.

I have included links at the beginning of certain chapters
which will lead to videos of me doing the forms.
Please keep receipts
in the event that links change.

This is NOT a book for dummies.
People will think that I have made it too simple,
they will think I have made it too complex,
that my logic is faulty,
they will argue over my reasons and conclusions.
This is good,
because I am going to tell you a secret…

Virtually EVERY martial arts book written
is merely a show and tell
of what they have been shown.
There is almost NO original thought,
certainly not analytical thought,
in the martial arts books on the market.

It is just what they have been shown
and accepted without question.

People have much pride in passing down martial arts
EXACTLY as they have been shown them.
Nobody asks why.
Nobody looks at the material and says…that technique sucks,
Nobody questions the venerable old master
and asks themselves if the old guy is in his second childhood,
or suffering Alzheimer’s,
or just had too much to drink.
They just take the art and pass it along,
and they make up reasons for forms that don’t make sense,
and teach the same old worthless techniques
that don’t work in reality..

The only real objection is in the form of people who quit karate.
And they have certainly NEVER looked at the art,
and questioned it,
or they wouldn’t have quit.
They just didn’t understand it and they quit.
Period.

Can’t really blame them.
Honestly.
They found karate to be unworkable,
and it is difficult to argue with their conclusions.
Hopefully we can rescue a few of these people
and bring them back into the fold.

Anyway, this book will cause consternation, argument,
and all the other things that a real artist must deal with
if he is to understand the art.

The glory of this book is that I’ll take the forms,
technique by technique,
and tell you not only what is wrong with it,
but how to fix it.
The techniques will suddenly make sense,
which will bring about a rejuvenation
in the belief in forms as a method.
I use logic, history, physics and matrixing to do this.

And,
as you argue over my conclusions
and even think bad thoughts of me
I will have succeeded.

When I was in 6th grade
everybody was doing reports on South America.
Joe had 10 pages.
Barry had 15 pages.
Sue had 30 pages.
And that was about it.
I wrote over 200 pages.
Had to put it in two folders.
Teacher’s eyes popped out.
All the kids started whispering and
I thought I had done something wrong.
Turned out I had actually done something right,
for a change.

But that wasn’t the real story.
The real story was that the next semester
we did reports on Central America.
I did 300 pages.
Zowie.
BUT… six kids had larger reports than me.

Now you’d think I would be disappointed.
I wasn’t top dog.
But I had an interesting thought:
I made those kids do more than me.
I inspired them.

And I realized that this was what I wanted to do.
I wanted to inspire people.
It was cool.
It gave me such a sense of self worth I never got over it.

And that has been what has been driving me all these years.
That and the idea that I wanted to write a letter
to people who live a thousand years from now.

In writing this book I feel I have succeeded in my purpose.
Enjoy the book,
hate it,
argue over it,
and that is my success.
You won’t be able to stop analyzing
and looking and figuring out
how to make Karate
the powerhouse it originally was.

I will have made a whole art
become a method for analytical thought.
Talk about changing the world.

Here is the link.

I do have to thank Ted VanderNoot for his editing.
No matter how hard I look,
the mistakes are all still mine.
Sigh.

If you want to see a real mistake,
glance at the back cover.
It’s a small mistake,
that is huge,
and glaring,
and you’ll laugh.

The second book is going through the publishing process.
I am publishing hard bound copies
in the near future for those interested.

Do me a favor and pass the word
on this book.
And give me five stars when you can.

Okay, everybody,
HAVE A GREAT WORK OUT!

Well, I got yelled at, and rightfully so.

I was too abrupt in my announcement of no more certification.

If you are already in contact with me and working towards a certification

I will of course continue with you.

I should have explained that from this point on I can’t take on any more certifying.

I am simply don’t have the time.

Sorry for any confusion or upset feelings.

Have a great work out!

Neutronic Fighting in the Martial Arts!

Neutronic Fighting in the Martial Arts!

Good morning!
Hi to Kumar and Jerome this week.

A quick announcement,
I’m not going to be issuing certificates any more.
Just don’t have the time.
In fact,
going to be changes around here,
and I’ll let you know of them in the coming weeks.

The book is done,
just waiting for proofs.
Proofs are copies just for the author
so he can see what the book looks like.
So, a couple of weeks and the book will be out.

Been a saga,
and I’ll talk about that on the official release newsletter,
but the thing that I want to talk about here
is more neutronic,
and how neutronic relates to fighting.
I believe I have said some of this before,
but it’s worth a second go around.

Neutron means nothing.
No weight, no mass, no intention, no direction.
It is the frame of mind you want to achieve.
And,
specific to the martial arts,
no emotion.

When somebody wants to fight you
they have to come for you.
I’ve actually stopped people from being aggressive with me
by simple saying,
‘You’re coming towards me.’
And who would come towards me in an aggressive manner?
The most obvious ones were people who,
when I was a teacher,
were upset about their child.
Parents can be really obtuse and mean.

But,
the thing is this,
there are actually two waves of attack.
Three if you count the idea of attack.

So,
first a guy gets the idea of attack,
second the guy has the emotion of attack,
third the guy attacks.

The thing that screws people up is this emotion thing.
Nobody understands emotion.
Especially not the psychiatrists
and the so called mental health ‘experts.’

Emotion is motion inside the head.

So the guy decides he wants to beat you up,
he throws rage at you,
then launches his body.

The rage is designed to intimidate you,
and to bolster himself.
The rage hits you
and you are slowed,
and the fight,
as your emotion starts to ratchet,
becomes a wallow through the currents of emotion.

I can’t tell you how to wallow through emotion.
That would be like telling somebody how to swim without water.

BUT,
you need to take emotion out of the equation.
Let the emotion wash past you,
not touch you,
observe without receiving his emotion,
or mounting any of your own.

This is one of the reasons people
should study such things as Yoga,
meditation,
or the martial arts concept of
motion without having emotion.
(Mushin no shin ~ Mind of No Mind)

Don’t get angry.
If a guy throws a punch at you it is a gift.
He is communicating with you.
Rejoice,
look at it,
enjoy it,
handle it.

If you’ve got emotion going on yourself,
it is difficult to handle other’s emotions.

Oddly,
I learned how to do without emotion by fighting.
I would do freestyle and focus on the opponent so hard
that I ended up in a sort of a tunnel,
looking at my opponent.
This put me out of my head
and out of emotion.

BUT…
I couldn’t have done that with fighting
if I hadn’t studied the forms first,
and learned the peculiar discipline that goes with that.

You can fight all you want and never get into the tube.
But once you dedicate yourself to learning about forms,
and about your form (your own body),
it becomes surprisingly easy.
It only took me about 20 years.

BUT…
with matrixing you can probably do it within a year.
Maybe even faster.

Matrixing aligns all the data,
arranges your understanding of incoming force
so that nothing surprises you.
Matrixing educates you as to how the body functions,
and about ten times faster than classical karate.

BUT…of course,
don’t give up that classical karate.
There’s gold in them thar hills,
especially once you have the pick and shovel of matrixing in your hands.

Here’s the obligatory ad…
