Making Beginning Karate into Advanced Karate

Newsletter 943

Defeating the Linearity of Karate

I was watching videos
of people doing karate on the internet.
This included demo teams,
old masters,
and whoever,
and I was struck
by wrong they are doing karate,
by how they didn’t really know karate.

The funny thing is
karate is one of the most powerful arts I know,
yet everybody is doing it wrong.
Let me give you one example.

Watch a video on youtube,
watch a demo team for karate.
They are fast, powerful, explosive.
It is not good karate.
Why?
Because their arms and legs move back and forth
in a linear manner,
stopping and starting.
Real karate is liquid,
it does not stop and start.
At the end of every movement there is a circle,
often too small to be easily seen.
this circle avoids the stopping and starting of the muscles.
It takes effort and muscular exertion
to stop and start muscle motion.
When you have a small circle
somewhere in the end of the motion,
which leads into the beginning of the next motion,
you are doing real karate.

Now,
those who don’t understand will argue,
that is okay,
they will remember
and eventually come around.
For those of you who are frowning,
standing up and checking to see
if you have a little loop on the end of a punch or block
(both ends)
the truth is dawning.
Karate is not linear.
It is not a rigid piston effect,
it is a looping,
neverending effect.
And,
what do you get out of it?

The loop helps change one move into the next
the loop saves energy and is more efficient
it is faster
your body becomes more liquid,
more fluid,
you start to develop ‘pulsing power.’
Pulsing power is when you…
push with the legs
turn the hips
throw the punch.
Not exactly together,
but one…two…three,
so fast that the punch becomes one motion,
each action lending power and energy to the next action,
and yet becoming more and more fluid.

Now,
I read of this concept originally
while reading books on Chinese martial arts.
And,
I observed my instructor,
who was quick and whippy,
fluid like a striking snake.
And I read about a more fluid karate in Shotokai
(not shotokan)
which is supposed to be the style
funakoshi handed down his lineage to.

And I thought about it,
and developed it,
and came to realize the truth of it.
So take your time,
practice your forms,
and search for places where you can
add a loop at the end of a technique.
Maybe it is in the motion of the hand,
maybe it’s a turn of the hip,
a sink of the hip,
and flip of the shoulder.
Whatever it is,
you’re now on the path to true karate.

And,
all these guys doing wrong karate?
They are phenomenal,
not to be disrespected,
but it is a simple matter of physics
that reveal them to be expert beginners,
even master beginners,
who haven’t made the transition past beginner,
into the real thing.

When I teach karate to newbies
I usually let them work on the piston effect.
But when they are starting to remember everything,
I shift them to the looping effect.

Now,
I don’t talk about the whiplike effect much,
I instead recommend people do Matrix Karate,
but if you have matrix karate under your belt,
you could look at Temple Karate.
I do more advanced forms there,
and you can probably,
if you have a quick eye,
see how I add the teensiest of loops
to make my karate fluid.

But your eye has to be quick,
because the longer you train,
the smaller your loops become
until no one can see your loops.

Have a great work out!
Al

Following is a great win that shows one thing…you aren’t going to get the answers, you are going to get the questions, the questions that lead you to understanding your own martial art. Do you have the kind of mind that can do this?

A WIN!

I picked up Matrix Karate from you; and I definitely get it.  My area of study is Kajukenbo; and based on watching the Matrix Karate DVD last night, I am reasonably sure that matrixing Kajukenbo would be very straight forward.  Time consuming, yes, difficult no.  I think it would be best to break Kajukenbo into its 7 arts (Karate, Judo, Jiujitsu, Kenpo, Boxing, Kung Fu, and Escrima), and matrix each of those.  My questions are: do you think that is the right approach? Is there a particular order you think these should be taught in? Do you teach each matrix’d art to completion, then move to the next? And, how does sport karate fit in?  And finally; for the traditional forms, would those be one entire section? Or would you recommend splitting them into each sub-section of the art?

Two Crooks Tripped Up by Little Girl’s Dream

Newsletter 941
Catching the Crooks

When my grandmother was a little girl
the family was very religious,
went to church every Sunday.

One Sunday her younger sister was sick.
The family decided that just this once
she could stay home.
Sniffling and snuffling,
the young girl went to her room
at the end of the second floor hall
and went to sleep.

Shortly after the rest of the family went to church,
a car pulled up in front of the house.
Two rough looking fellows got out,
looked around,
and hurried up the walk.

In the house they quickly checked for occupants.
One fo the crooks ascended the stairs
and walked down the hallway,
looking in every room.
He stopped right before he reached the young girl’s room.
Heck, there wasn’t anybody home.
He turned around and helped his friend ransack the hosue.

They took jewelry,
silverware,
anything that wasn’t nailed down.
They put the swag in several pillow cases
they had taken out of a closet.
They walked down the front walk
got in their car and drove away.

An hour later the family returned home.
Shocked,
they went through the house,
the mother broke down in tears
and the father called the cops.

The cops came and looked for clues,
and talked to everybody.
But everybody had been at church,
nobody had seen anything.

‘I suppose it’s a good thing nobody was home,’
said the officer.
‘But somebody was home!
Our little girl is sick,
she’s sleeping upstairs.’

The cops asked to speak to the young girl.
The young girl was feeling better,
but she still sniffed and snuffled
when she walked into the room.
And she wasn’t surprised to find out
the house had been burglarized.

‘Oh, yeah,’
she said.
‘I saw them.’

‘But you were sleeping!’
protested her mother.

‘I know,
but I saw them in my dreams.
I watched them take everything.’

One of the cops snorted.
The older one,
the chief,
merely said,
‘Tell me what you saw.’

So my grandmother’s younger sister
told of the crooks driving up,
how they looked around,
how they checked the house for people,
but stopped before they reached her room.
She then described,
step by step,
how the crooks went through the house,
what they took,
how they carried it out the front door.

At the end she said,
‘When they reached their car
one of the men turned around,
saw me looking out of my window,
and he waved to me.
Then he got in the car and they drove away.

The family figured the girl had been hallucinating,
had made up a dream to match what had happened.
The younger cop thought it was a crock.
The older cop asked her to describe the two men.
She did,
and the old cop said,
‘That’s those two boys living on the outskirts of town.’

The cops went off,
broke down the door of the shack the two men were living in
and arrested them.
All of the stolen goods were recovered,
except for a few pieces of silverware
that had already been melted down.

The two crooks confessed,
and their descriptions of their crime
matched everything the younger sister had said,
except for the waving of the hand at the end.
One of the crooks said,
‘I would wave at nobody I had just stole from!’

Now,
this story is absolutely true.
It happened to my grandmother,
who relayed it to my brother and sister and I.
A bit of the Case family lore.

So why do I tell you now?
Because there is something very important you should understand
if you are ever going to learn the truth of matrixing,
and the truth of the martial arts.

There is a sixth sense,
and there are abilities in your dreams,
and they exist,
but they only exist for you
if you believe that they can exist.
Don’t believe and you never get those abilities,
believe and you will find them.

I was raised in a family where we believed in such things,
in the power of imagination and hard work,
where people could have special abilities
if they worked hard enough.

Many of you out there know what I say,
you probably have your own family legends,
your own experiences in imagination and abilities.
But for those of you who are weak in such things,
read this story again,
and realize that this is the stuff of martial arts.

You can learn them fast,
you can have intuition,
you can be superior.
Really,
there is nothing that you can’t do.

You just have to believe.

Have a great work out!
Al

2ba Matrix Tai Chi Chuan

A WIN!

Al,
Great news! I have been working with the Matrix Tai Chi basics performing each one dozens of times and holding the finished posture for three breaths each. This has made my Five Army form so much better! My power has increased in my karate forms as well. Just need to work on Shaolin Butterfly to get the basics down for the Bagua stuff. Well hope you’re having a great 2016 so far.

Why You Have To Study Lots of Martial Arts

Newsletter 929

I Really Want to Kill Someone with Just One Strike!

I get this every once in a while,
somebody wants to find the ‘magic technique,’
the technique that works for everything.
Somebody wants to study just one thing
and be able to kill anybody with it.

Now,
I am not going to teach you how to spell comic book,
and for a simple reason,
there actually is a technique,
a perfect technique,
that will do this.
And,
not to be mystical,
or obfuscate,
it is the last move at the end of Seisan.
Go ahead,
find it,
see what it does,
figure it out,
and practice just that one technique.

BUT,
that having been said,
I want to describe the philosophy behind
why you have to learn a whole martial art,
spend years studying,
instead of just buying a gun.

Okay,
first,
let’s consider celestial navigation.
You want to take your rocket ship to Arcturus.
You blast off,
you’re sailing away,
but…where is that durned star?
You’re confused by the time you reach Jupiter.
There’s the big dipper,
bunch of stars over there,
and the seven sisters,
and..Beetlejuice?

Wish you had a map, eh?

Now,
let’s compare that to taking somebody DOWN!
You punch for the throat,
except he’s punching too,
so you shift, and he misses, but you miss.
But his arm is there,
so you go for an elbow roll,
except he’s twisting in response,
but your foot is…

Do you get the idea?
The same as going for a star without a map,
there is amazing confusion in a fight.
So you have to make a map.
You have to make it with your experience.

You punch,
he strikes,
but you’ve studied slipping in JKD,
the elbow roll comes,
he shifts,
but you know about shifting from Tai Chi.
he strikes,
but you know about dropping an elbow from karate,
and you finally strike him in the throat,
AND…manipulate him,
AND…take him down.

Now,
the analogy may not be quite clear,
so let me elucidate.
You find arcturus by your knowledge of what and where the other stars are.
AND…
you achieve your takedown by navigating a map of the human body,
by knowing where the joints are and how they turn,
by understanding leverage,
by subtle shifts of anatomy,
his and yours,
and you navigate to the final strike and takedown.

So when you study a whole art,
instead of buying a gun,
or searching for that mystical one finger technique
that reverse spirals the energy
so that the chakra explodes
in the fourth lumbar…
what you are doing is studying
a method for navigating the body.
No star will confuse you,
no motion or joint will confuse,
and you will find your way to…
better health,
understanding that common folk don’t have,
and the certainty that martial arts bring.

So, the best map for understanding the body,
because it can be applied to ANY martial Art!
Is
The Master Instructor Course.
You learn how the body works.
You learn how techniques work.
You can make any art work,
any technique work,
you understand forms better,
and…and it just gets better.

A Super Win from the New Book/Video course

Thanks to everybody
who has purchased
How to Translate Karate to Tai Chi Chuan
Wins all over the place,
and here’s a really great one.

Hello Al, this is Jason W. I would like to express my deepest thanks for the link to the course you sent me that was very gracious of you. I have been working on it and I have to say that this is the very best course yet. I liked the Matrix Karate and although it is a complete fighting system, I felt that much of the bulk of really good and usable Kang Duk Won technique wasn’t included. Kang Duk Won really didn’t make sense and large parts of it I deemed unusable in a real fight. Your Tai chi/Karate course makes it all relevant and usable. From the very first move in Pinan 1 it’s awesome. I never really understood the downward block as a countermove to a front or round kick. Unless the guy kicking is a total putz you run the risk of damaging your forearm and no matter what training you put into it a trained Muay Thai fighter will break your arm in two. But the way you showed it as a downward strike into the groin/abdomen makes total sense and is so simple and natural I scold myself for not seeing it sooner. Of course I come from an internal martial arts background and I have always had a hard time reconciling the hard arts vs. the soft ones. It seemed like I was shifting from one to the other in a sparring session. Your way of putting these together makes it flow naturally and I feel I have made a tremendous leap forward in not only understanding internal power, but realizing the internal energy in external martial arts which is the end goal of all styles. I would really like to see you develop this further for example going forward and doing the post Pinan forms of KDW. Oh and I really like the backward steps in the forms. It allows me to practice the forms in a much smaller area (an item of great concern in bad weather). Keep up the great work Al, your martial genius never ceases to amaze me.

Thanks for those kind words, Jason.

And,
for everybody,
I added a chapter to the book,
so download again,
there is a chapter on chi principles.

And,
I added a modification after the form Channan one,
should really make better footwork out
certain sections of the forms.

And,
one of the purposes of Tai Chi is to pump up the chi.
Unfortunately,
the art is not presented well for self defense.
It has self defense,
but it takes a long time
for people to understand it as self defense.
Karate has hard explosive energy,
and the chi pumps up differently,
isn’t even noticed for a couple of decades.
So we have a weird situation.
Tai Chi has chi but little self defense,
karate has self defense, but little chi.
Generally speaking.
So to put them together,
beef up the chi in karate,
make the self defense more obvious in tai chi,
was just what the doctor ordered.

Read the win,
guaranteed,
this book/course will do what i say,
and in spades.

And please remember
I started karate in 1967,
I started tai chi in 1974.
It took a lot of experience to put this all together,
and you’re welcome to it.
The book is on amazon,

How to Translate Karate into Tai Chi Chuan

How to Make Karate into Tai Chi Chuan

Turning Karate into Tai Chi Chuan? Maybe…

First, comes the question, why would anybody want to make karate into tai chi chuan?

Lots of reasons, actually.

First, learning how to do Karate Tai Chi style opens the doors for people who are old or injured to enjoy this most marvelous art.

Second, and this is important, it teaches people who study karate a whole new set of principles. It teaches them things about energy, how the body works, exposes a whole new set of form applications, and more.

Third, people who study tai chi chuan have the same learning experience: new techniques, different methods of developing chi power, and more.

The differences between these two arts is pretty sizable.

Karate, rightly or wrongly, is held up as an explosive and linear art.

Tai Chi Chuan is held up as a slow motion adjunct to good health.

Both arts are good, but they are only of the martial art entire.

A good karate practitioner should learn how to move slow, as this will teach a whole new style of energy production, and double potential striking (blocking) power.

Further, the slow movements increases understanding of ‘emptiness,’ which increases the ‘zen’ spirituality of the art form.

And, most important, the viewpoint on bunkai, form applications or self defense moves, undergoes a radical shift.

Karate explodes, tai chi absorbs, thus the karateka learning  tai chi concepts is going to learn a totally different, and sometimes diametrically opposed, method for applying the self defense moves built into the forms.

And, from the other side, people who study tai chi for health, or who don’t fully understand the applications of that discipline, or only buying half a loaf.

Building energy through a simple motion with no resistance is useful, but only of ten per cent of the real value. Learning the applications will create deeper understanding of the form, make the moves mean something, and therein lies the real potential of chi power and health benefits.

There a lot of benefits to combining the two arts, and only a fluff martial artist would not want to avail himself (herself) of the benefits of translating karate into tai chi chuan.

The author has written the first and only tome on this fascinating subject of turning karate into tai chi chuan. The title is ‘How to Translate Karate into Tai Chi Chuan.’ The book is bundled into the video course available at MonsterMartialArts.com. The book will become available in paperback, but it may be some time before this occurs. The video course is over five hours of hands on instruction.

Release of New Martial Arts Book!

Hi Guys and Gals,
I get emails sometimes,
asking me what I teach.
I have a truckload of arts,
I have 50 years of collecting methods,
but what do I use on a day to day basis?

Obviously,
I teach different things for different people,
different arts for different groups.
But,
what art do I teach in the perfect setting,
students who actually desire to learn,
and so on.

So I wrote a book presenting the series of forms I teach.
I included the three matrixes that I use for techniques.
I included lists of grab arts and where I teach them in the system.
I included lists of freestyle methods
and where I teach them in the system.

Now,
I’m pretty liquid.
People are different,
what they want is liquid,
so I adapt.
But,
in this system
is my best efforts
at forms that are concise,
not so difficult they can’t be remembered,
let alone used.
At the sequence of techniques
that bring people to intuitive self defense.
At how and when to teach grab arts and freestyle drills.

Yet Another Martial Arts Master Instructor!

Congratulations to Sensei Alan Granger!
Here is his win!

First off thank you so much for writing this book! I have learned so much. I have learned something from every section. I will use the whole book. The things I will start right away with my students are the…(SSD teaching method)… It just makes so much sense. No one has ever shown me the body testing I have already started using it with my son. We take time to test each other a least 2 or 3 times a week. I have been looking at your stuff for about 8 or 9 months. I finally decided to download it. I am so glad I did. I just wish I would have done it sooner. It has been such a big help to me. I will be ordering more of your books and videos!

Thanks Greatly,
Sensei Alan Granger

Thank you,
Master Instructor Granger.
Your win really makes my day.
The teaching method he refers to is very simple.
Interestingly,
I learned it,
in an abbreviated fashion,
I have been using it ever since,
and I am SHOCKED
that nobody knows it.
Honestly,
this one point,
this method,
is the ONLY way to ensure that your teaching
actually reaches the student.
In the past 50 years I have seen TREMENDOUS degradation of art.
I have seen people put aside methods
and go to boxing,
and call it karate,
or some other martial art.
Thus,
there is a whole generation,
or number of generations,
that have no idea what the martial arts are.
They wear black belts,
they talk and they teach,
and they don’t know anything.
Seriously.

So,
you don’t have to buy that.
You can make sure your art actually lives beyond you.
Of course,
you’re going to have to make sure
that you actually know a martial art in the first place.

Anyway,
the teaching method is there,
and it works,
and everybody who has taken the course agrees,
and wholeheartedly.

And,
thank you,
MI Granger,
share the wealth,
and congrats

A Martial Artist’s Night Before Xmas!

Newsletter 908

A Martial Arts Christmas Eve!

ALL RIGHT!
It’s Christmas eve,
and you know what that means…
it is TIME…
for the yearly rendering of
A Martial Arts Night Before Xmas.
Or,
as I like to call it…
HANAKWANMASS!

Before we start,
however,
I have to ask for my Xmas present.

If I have offended,
lost an order,
insulted you,
no matter how small or slight,
please forgive.
I make mistakes,
lots of them,
and I would love it if you could forgive me.
I’ll try not to make any more,
but you know how that goes.

NOW,
IT’S TIME!
In this corner,
holding a whiskey and looking dazed,
is your poet Al Case.
And in this corner,
proud as good literature can be,
is…

THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS!

Twas the night before Christmas
I was in my shack
primed and ready
for the red fat attack.

my weapons were loaded
the windows were barred
all would be safe
while I was on guard

The chimney was decked
with concertina wire
I crouched by the couch
ready to fire.

I had an M60
with ammo to feed
I didn’t care
if the red fat did bleed.

A loaded shotgun
and grenades to spare
when red fat came down
I’d blow him out of there.

Throwing stars and knives
and a really long sword
and if that didn’t work
I knew a bad word.

Sitting there late
my eyes started to close
when suddenly I heard
a bunch of ho hos.

Off with the lights
safety off, too
I  watched the fire close
and heard a sound from the flu.

‘Ouch and gosh darn it
who put the wire here
those are my undies
starting to tear!’

Then a shower of soot
and a grunt and a groan
he landed in the fire
and gave out a moan.

He was rubbing the place
where the wire did tear
so I held down the trigger
and lead filled the air.

belt after belt
did I deal the red fat
he danced and he jumped
I knew he felt that!

then quicker than spit
I ran out of lead
but enough was enough
he had to be dead.

Boy was I shocked
to see him stand tall
stepping out of the fireplace
not bothered at all.

So I grabbed up the 16
to mow him down
he had to be hurting
cause I saw his big frown.

Then I was empty
and he came straight for me
I pulled out my knives
and sliced him with glee

He jumped to the side
moving real quick
disarmed my knives
with a well placed kick

then he dropped the big bag
he had on his shoulder
reached forth his arms
and his anger did smolder

He grabbed hard my neck
and held me up high
I tried kicks and punches
but I was like a fly

Not karate nor judo
no art did work
and he grinned a mean grin
and called me a jerk

‘Don’t you know
you stupid little man
Christmas is forever
in spite of your plan.’

Then he threw me aside
and proceeded to work
giving presents to all
and to me a great smirk

And when he left
the great big red fat
he left me a lump of coal
the big red fat rat!

HANAKWANMASS TO ALL
and to all a great work out.

Have a great work out!

Where Matrixing in the Martial Arts Really Came From

Newsletter 906

Is Matrixing actually New?

I get this question every once in a while.
Some fellow writes in, makes a comment,
and the question is:

Has matrixing ever been done before?

Valid question.
So,
let me give you a couple of instances
so you can totally understand whether Matrixing is new.

In the original hard bound ‘Aikido and the Dynamic Sphere,’
(not the soft bound or kindle)
by Westbrook and Ratti,
there is a fold out which sort of matrixes Aikido techniques.
It is actually quite brilliant,
but it is not a true matrix for several reasons.

One, it pertains solely to Aikido,
therefore, it lacks the viewpoint necessary to the whole art.

Two, it doesn’t provide for a gradient list of techniques,
advanced or basic, you figure it out.
This makes it VERY difficult to learn.

Three,
it doesn’t demonstrate the ‘basic-basics’ of Aikido
(those body motions which construct the basics themselves)
rather it espouses a singular concept (giving way)
this results in a student going down a singular path,
and not being able to develop certain attributes and tendencies necessary to quicker understanding,
if not more thorough understanding.

Another example of ‘almost matrixing,’
is in the book ‘Wing Chun Kung Fu’
by James Yimm Lee.
This book was supposedly authored by Bruce Lee,
but I’ve read nothing to substantiate this,
other than the fact that Bruce was teaching out of Jame’s house in Oakland.
So, who knows on this point?

The specific matrixing would be the ‘four doors and eight gates’ theory
with the resulting drills.
This is quite genius,
explains the blending of hard and soft admirably,
and in a mostly mechanical manner.

BUT…
One, it is, same as Aikido, specific to an art.
It is readily applicable to other arts,
but most people don’t understand the basics of their arts
well enough to understand the how and the why.

Two, it is specific to the Wing Chun method of controlling the contest through the arms.
Thus, several other theories are ignored, or at least not mentioned.

There are other things which influenced me,
but these two were key.
Important to note,
when you consider them,
is that I was studying several other arts at the same time,
writing extensive records (to be books) concerning them,
and really examining them from a ‘whole art’ point of view.

So,
is matrixing new and unique?

It is totally new and unique.

It is not just a new model of car,
it is a new and incredibly faster type of vehicle.

It’s like comparing a Mustang to a Tesla.
Really different.

Of course,
you won’t believe it till you’ve tried it,
and the best place to start is the basics,
as in Matrix Karate.
Not just the basics of karate,
but the basic theories of matrixing,
and a completely different way of looking at the arts,
of being able to combine all arts so that they make sense,
don’t fight one another,
and join into one whole art.

Here’s the obligatory link…

The Coming Golden Age of Martial Arts…

Let’s talk about Matrixing,

Almost here!

But,

you will probably give gifts,
and the best gift you can give
is a course in Matrix Martial Arts,
it not only gives now, but over the years,
for the course of an entire lifetime.

Okay,
the ad officially over,
I noticed something very interesting,
back when I figured matrixing out.

Take a carburetor apart.
Clean it.
Put it back together.
If you have no experience,
you’re going to mess it up.
At the least,
it is going to take you a lo-o-ong time.
It often takes a lot of mistakes
to figure things out.
That’s the story with the martial arts.
You learn forms with no meaning,
nobody shows you the tricks
to make the techniques work.
Higher belts beat the crud out of you,
and don’t tell you what they know.

The problem is that people don’t know how to explain
what they know.
They earned it over time,
by making a lot of mistakes,
and they can’t explain it to you.

What if somebody could explain the mistakes to you,
could give you the knowledge to make it work,
without all the time and mistakes?
And that is the essence of matrixing.

Instead of spending four to five years,
grinding through bruises and even breaks,
figuring it out one step at a time,
what if you could just get the data,
learn the martial arts,
and do them?

So when I started teaching matrixing,
I would show somebody the real reason behind a punch,
I would show them how the lines of energy align in the human body.
Suddenly,
virtually instantly,
their blocks became solid…
and they caused pain.

It didn’t take years of lessons
on how to build the mysterious ‘chi power,’
it didn’t take dozens of forms
and hundreds of techniques,
it just took the actual and real reasons
behind what and how you do the martial arts.

If you understand something you can do it.

If you don’t understand something
you have to suffer through mistakes.
And nobody tells you what the mistakes are,
you just keep doing them
until you accumulate enough bonks on the nose
to figure out you’re doing something wrong.

So why lead with your face?
Why not lead with your mind,
with logic,
with the real reasons behind the martial arts?

I know
(sigh)
I’m an internet scamster,
tricking people for their money.
EXCEPT…
I’ve been on the internet since 2002.
Check the Time Machine if you don’t believe.
And before that I was doing mail order since 1984.
In that time I have received FOUR complaints.
Two of the complaints people didn’t even open their orders,
just sent them back.
One of the guys I have no idea why he wanted his money back.
One guy was highly upset
that I didn’t give him the classical art he wanted.
He apparently didn’t read the ad,
didn’t figure out that I was doing things differently,
that I was fixing the classical.

Look,
here’s something to think about.
People say that the Golden Age of Martial Arts
was back in the sixties.
They are wrong.
That was a period of discovery,
of growth and expansion,
of categorizing various arts into packages.
We have stars exploding,
arts become franchises,
and every week it seemed like something new was happening.

That’s not a golden age,
that’s just discovering something.

A REAL Golden Age is coming,
and it depends not on advertising and movies,
on stars and franchises.
It depends on knowledge.
Look,
before 1970 there were hundreds of people in China
who could too the ‘one finger’ trick.
Stick their finger through a board and leave a hole.
There were people who could break bricks from ten feet away,
just a blast of ‘chi power.’
I even have a photo of one fellow
placing a piece of bamboo across two slices of watermelon
and breaking the stick with a chop,
and not denting the watermelon slices.

Most of you have never heard of this stuff.
Have certainly never seen it.
And,
you won’t learn it in today’s schools.

BUT,
study the knowledge behind the martial arts
and you will not only understand tricks like these,
you will be able to do them.

The essence of the martial arts is in the knowledge
that is not currently being taught.
That knowledge is in the matrixing courses.
The matrixing courses are the real reasons,
the actual physics behind the martial arts.
All it takes is you,
to understand it,
to study it,
to make it work.
And that’s when we’ll have the true Golden Age of Martial Arts.

Okay,
I talk,
blue in the face,
here’s the link,
and for God’s sake,
I hope you understand the difference between mindlessly practicing techniques,
and understanding the real reasons for those techniques.

Now,
excuse me for being overly passionate,
I just love the martial arts so much,
and I so want you to have them,
the real martial arts for the real you.
Have a great work out!
And…
HANAKWANMASS!
