Learn Apocalyptic Martial Arts

Newsletter 963

Here’s How To Do Caveman Martial Arts!

I’m binge watching a TV series.
‘Into the Badlands.’
Great fun,
the premise being that there are no more guns,
so we live on a few old cars,
relics like turntables,
and practice the sword.
Yowza!

And the martial arts are really cool!
Flying superkicks,
punches that knock people through brick walls,
did I say it was…COOL!

Now,
the thing that gets me is this…
the ladies,
in spite of living in relative caveman times,
all look like they stepped out of a beauty salon,
wearing the gorgeous gowns,
and,
of course,
wearing high heels that can spike an oaf’s face
with elan.

Well,
if you think about it,
that is the least of the problems.
The whole thing suspends reality for…COOL!
So what do you think a post apocalyptic martial art
would really look like?

No swords…
people would just pick up stray and heavy objects
and grind an edge on it.
Found a big, old paper cutter?
Loosen the blade and swing that!

Lots of knives.
Easy to make,
easy to hide,
easy to use.

Lots of guns,
but ammo might run out pretty quick.
So,
maybe no guns after a while.

And,
would you have a lot of people
who knew long and elaborate forms,
and knew how to use them in a fight?
Nah.

In a world reduced to caveman,
the guy who studies the short form,
and most diligently,
is going to be the one to survive.
I’ll take House One any day.

My House One,
on the Matrix Karate course,
has only seven moves.
But those seven moves have over 16 applications.
It replaces dozens of long forms
with simple logic.

House Two has 10 moves,
but put together with House One
there are over 64 applications.

So you just drill these simple moves
over and over,
and the truth will emerge:
a fellow who knows the basics well,
can beat a fellow who knows advanced techniques.
You see,
advanced techniques depend on the basics.
Got to know the basics.
And the fellow with the best basics,
no matter what kind of ‘advanced technique’ he knows,
is going to win.

Anyway,
that’s my answer to Hollywood,
gals on six inch spikes,
and those glorious
wire suspended trampoline kicks.

1a Matrix Karate

Do Matrix Karate for a year,
you’ll know how to fight better than anybody.
It’s pure, man.
It’s pure.
Pure logic and pure joy.

Have a pure work out!
Al

A WIN!
Hey Al!

I just read today’s news letter.  You are always so encouraging, and always raising such excellent signposts for those of us who follow you!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I’m taking it easy, really trying to ‘get’ coordinated body movement, working my Matrix Karate forms, looking for more and more relaxation… or less and less effort?

Each time I add a side, I find something new and wonderful.  When I started doing Form 2 backwards, I found a whole new ‘direction’ in my mind, like I was learning something completely new.

Achieve Enlightenment in the Martial Arts

Newsletter 962

How to Have Enlightenment in the Martial Arts

Martial Arts realization,
as in Morihei Ueshiba,
as in a supreme moment of enlightenment.
The physical part is easy.
Do your forms.
The mental part is a little harder.
Learn your art,
but go outside your art,
create a huge database,
commit yourself until their is no doubt,
and so on.
The spiritual part is the hardest.
Grow your awareness.

Now how the heck do people grow awareness?
I mean,
according to teachers, psychologist,
and anybody who knows anything…
people only get dumber with age,
they never get smarter.

But the truth is this…
people who say you can’t get smarter
are referring to themselves.
If they haven’t done it,
then it can’t be done.
Right?

Wrong.

And this points to a simple fact:
while you have to read,
and explore the various fields of knowledge,
school is not designed to make you smarter.
It is designed to make you a compliant worker
who does what he is told
in the great factories of life.
Do what you are told,
don’t complain,
and make sure you buy the right kind of soap,
car, dogfood, jeans, condoms, and so on.

So,
leaving all that aside,
how does one become smarter?
If you follow the one advice I offer here,
it’s easy.
First,
intelligence isn’t how much you know,
it’s how aware you are,
how fast you make the connections
necessary to thinking.
So here it is:

The slower you go the more you will look,
the more you look the more you will know.

Or,
the short version,
the slower you go the more you know.

I use to write something on my hand,
then I would ask the student to read it.
I would open and close my hand quickly.
They saw nothing,
a smear of letters,
nothing.
So I would open and close my hand slower.
‘To be more intelligent look harder.’
Or,
‘You’ve got to look when you seek or you won’t find.’
Student goes ‘aha!’

You see,
it’s not in the IQ tests,
it is in your appreciation of life,
it’s in knowing how to see life.

Sure,
I teach fast,
but I also,
especially in the beginning,
go slow and make sure the student understands
what it is I am saying.
If they yawn or look blank,
I repeat.
Once they blink and go, ‘Aha!’
Then I speed up.
And I speed up far more
than any martial arts school you will ever see.

Once the mouth of awareness is open
you can through a whole universe into it.

Of course,
it helps that what I throw is matrixed,
makes sense,
is logical.

You see,
if things move in too fast
the mind rejects it.
The mind just becomes overwhelmed.
But if what I throw is logical,
then I almost can’t go too fast.
The mind gulps life at an astounding rate
if it makes sense.

Anyway,
that is all there is to becoming smarter,
more aware,
in the martial arts.
And that is all there is to becoming enlightened,
if you have the will to endure
and the desire to succeed.

You guys and gals
have a wonderful and deep work out!
Al

A WIN!
Hey Al… I probably spent the first couple of years, reading the material and somewhat doing the forms, apps and freestyle. Really, not enough to make a real difference. Once I actually did the work, do the art until the art does you, I noticed both a better delivery in personal energy, not in only my strikes, but the energy could be directed downward. My mental focus has improved and even my wife notice my anger last seconds. A warrior both pushes his mind and his body. With your massive volume of work, and a dedication too doing the work, and with your method for attaining awareness. The process is expedited, it really is a science…
… I know you get a lot of crap for Your theories, but as you say…”A truth not shared is no truth at all”.
…Your matrixing and Neutronic material is a science, if You do the work….you will get it.

Why Martial Arts Books are So-o-o Important!

Newsletter 961

The Value of Martial Arts Books

One of the first Martial Arts books to hit the US…
Super Karate made Easy by Moja Rone.
It is pretty outlandish,
the descriptions are worth the book alone.
‘Give him a Sunday punch and he’ll wake up on Tuesday.’
Ha!
It’s part of my free books package
when you sign up for the Monster Martial Arts newsletter.

One of the first martial arts authors was Bruce Tegner.
He wrote a score of books.
Bad form, simple ideas,
a public that didn’t know better.
Yet his ideas are worthwhile;
they make you think.

Then there are the classics:
Aikido and the Dynamic Sphere,
an amazingly artful work,
that actually passes on the spirit of Aikido.
Karate Do Kyohan,
a thorough look at Karate by Gichin Funakoshi.
Tai Chi Touchstones…
Shotokan’s Secret…
and so on.

And,
of course,
‘The Biggest Martial Arts Lesson of All’
10 volumes of smarts and anecdotes and histories and so on.

Why is ‘The Biggest Martial Arts Lesson of All’ important?
Think back to the beginning of the internet.
The web was new,
all sorts of stuff was out there,
floating up and smacking you in the face.
Great times,
the wild west of martial arts information.
Amazing.
Then it changed.
Google was the big villain.
Google has almost single handedly brought the age of information to a close.
Go on,
do a search on martial arts,
you will find:
wikipedia, ads for schools in the area, and that’s about it.
Google is a ‘telephone book.
That’s all it is.
How does a telephone book make money?
It shows ads.
So Google isn’t even a good telephone book.
It is a paid telephone book.
Sort of like paid politics.
You only get what advertisers want to give you.
You only get the same old politician.
No real and useful information.

Yes,
you can find information,
but only if you know exactly what you are looking for.
But why would you look for what you already know?

I miss the wild west of the internet.
I miss finding out wild things,
meeting bizarre people,
searching my way through the maze of mystery
that was the martial arts nobody had ever known about.
Think about it,
the martial arts magazines are mostly gone.
TV only has MMA,
Books are…BOOKS!
And that’s why I wrote
‘The Biggest Martial Arts Lesson of All.’
I replaced the internet.
I give back what we’ve lost.
Obscure bits of history,
odd items of humor,
profound examples of martial arts,
styles of karate,
brands of kung fu,
arts you’ve never heard of and won’t ever again
because Google destroyed the window into
what you really want to know…
the things that you didn’t know.

I’ve written over 50 books on the martial arts,
I’ve written more books,
more words,
on the martial arts than anyone in history.
If you count my novels,
well over two million words.
And why?

Because books stick around.
People still discuss Bruce Tegner,
they pore over Bruce Lee’s books,
and books about Bruce Lee.
They are still fascinated by Moja Rone,
even though nobody knows who he is.
A fake name with a following!

So when you go to the dojo
and you hear some fellow expound on
why this art developed into that art,
the secret of Chi,
mysterious arts that nobody ever heard of,
you’ll grin.
And you’ll know the truth because you’ve taken…
‘The Biggest Martial Arts Lesson of All.’

You see,
my art will fade with time,
I’ll die.
But the books will be there.
In a thousand years people will be discussing (and doing) Matrixing quite avidly,
and they will still be enthralled
by the ten book collection of wit and wisdom,
the discussion of what Chi is,
the incredible abilities of those who truly dedicated themselves to the martial arts,
the histories and anecdotes,
the priceless gift of learning things
that they didn’t know.

My advice,
don’t bother with the Kindle versions.
They’ll be gone the next time your computer crashes.
Get the ten books themselves in real form.
Be able to thumb through real pages,
and not know what gem you will come across.
Look up at your bookshelves,
see the block of ten spines
that represent a real look at the real martial arts,
and have some real fun.

Use Google,
get back at the biggest villain,
and find the complete ten volumes of…

Release of ‘The Book of Five Arts!’

New Book Release!
The Book of Five Arts

Just released a new book:
‘The Book of Five Arts’
The title idea comes from Myamoto Musashi’s ‘Book of Five Rings.’
In this book I detail the exact sequence of five martial arts.
Now some of you have seen some of the material.
There is matrix karate, shaolin butterfly, butterfly pa kua chang,
matrix tai chi chuan and Monkey Boxing.

The glory of this book, even if you have seen parts,
is that it includes graphics and charts
showing exactly how the progression of matrices work.
So you look at the karate matrix,
you understand what the blank spots are,
then you look at the shaolin butterfly,
different blank spots,
and so on through each of the five arts.
By the time you’re done you won’t have any blank spots.
At all.
A blank spot in one art will be filled by a technique from another art.
BUT…
you have to do it.
Fortunately,
it is simple.
If you have picked up the books on Perfect Karate,
or the small book I wrote on the butterfly,
you will know exactly what I am doing.
But you likely haven’t seen the work on Matrix Tai Chi.
Not at all.
Even if you’ve done the video course,
this is quite a bit more linear,
easier,
simpler.
And Monkey Boxing.
Ahhh.
That is my art,
and here is how you get started in it.
You’ll see how the basics come together for a perfect matrix.

The book is 160 pages,
over 300 illustrations.
And it doesn’t just show the matrix of five individual arts,
it shows how they come together to make one art,
the real art,
the real path of the martial arts.

So here’s the Amazon link.
The Book of Five Arts
Make sure you give it five stars.

Have a GREAT work out!

A WIN!
Al,
I’ve sped through the Shaolin Butterfly, am learning the Five Army Tai Chi Chuan and the Butterfly Baguazhang. It seems to me that now I can look at classical forms and simply understand how to do them correctly. It’s absolutely amazing. The practice and learning process basically infuses a student with the basics to make anything work. To correct the whole of an art simply by looking at the forms and playing around with them. I’ve applied this to many classical forms I learned years ago. Thanks so much for the master key to all the martial arts right in my hand.

The Terrors of Teaching Kids Martial Arts!

Newsletter 958

Oh, No! Teaching a Kid’s Martial Arts Class!

Interesting situation.
I had an operation a few years ago.
Saws off the tip of my shoulder,
put in a couple of screws,
tossed in a dead man’s ligament.
Took me a year to recover.
I still did martial arts,
had range of motion,
had some strength,
but,
as you can guess,
I was messed.

So I recover,
and I am desperate to do martial arts.
I NEEEEED to do martial arts.
So I walked into a school,
introduced myself,
and asked about lessons.
The head instructor didn’t blink at my age,
merely said,
‘sure, we can get you started…’
I said,
‘No,
I’m an 8th black,
had an operation,
and I want to get active.
I want to teach.’

Well,
I ran into a good one.
He doesn’t blink,
says,
‘Oh, come in tomorrow night,
we’ll see what happens.’

So I show up,
help out with the class,
and there I was,
a volunteer assistant instructor at 68 years old.

So I walk behind the line,
put kids in order,
help them do moves.
Not hard,
and it was a start.
The problem was it was more of a tournament/MMAJujitsu school.
That’s okay,
the rules of the universe are the same for all arts,
and I know the physics.
So I watch and listen,
adapt to the instructor’s method,
and there I am,
teaching something I don’t know,
and quite well thank you.

Now,
you may be wondering where this is going.
Last month the instructor decided to retire,
offered me his school.
huh.
He’s 20 years younger,
but his body feels 20 years older,
so I have a school.
Except I don’t want it.
It’s true,
I want to teach,
I don’t want to do the paperwork
and advertising,
and call the parents
and clean the blinds and the toilet and the front walk,
and…
you get the idea.
So I said no,
he offered to a couple of other guys,
and when they asked who I was,
he said,
‘He’s Al,
just let him do what he wants.’
So they did.
And I am now in full control
of a hoard of wild kids.
I know what Custer felt like.

So what am I doing,
now that I’m in complete charge?
and can run the classes the way I like?

First,
I ask for silence.
No more running around and screaming.
That’s rule number one.
And,
the other night I had them
simply stand at attention for one minute.
No talk.
No giggle or twitch.
Twitchers and gigglers
assumed the push up position in a corner,
and we started again.
Took out three gigglers
before we finally made 30 seconds.
Isn’t that interesting?
Some of these kids have been doing martial arts for YEARS,
and they have never stood silently for as little as 30 seconds.
It was a shock to their delicate systems.
And,
during the class I yelled at them.
Talk about shock.
They were fair comatose
once they had experienced a kiai/shout.
There’s just something about when
I get in somebody’s face and raise the decibels
that has an abrupt effect.

And the parents,
a hoard of parents watched on,
and now my classes are growing larger.
The parents LIKE it
when somebody cares enough to get in their child’s face
and talk common sense
in words that CANNOT be ignored.

Now,
don’t get me wrong,
this is not a bad school,
actually,
the martial arts,
the MMA/jujitsu is REALLY good.
But it is geared for tournaments,
and taught as if the kids were kids.
Don’t yell,
entertain.
That sort of thing.
It is to the other instructor’s high credit
that they are tournament champions,
that they know how to fight.

I,
of course,
don’t care about fighting.
I care about surviving,
winning not the gold,
but your life.

So everybody is going into shock,
and then scrambling to figure it out,
and finding out that that nice, old, grandfather guy
has a tiger in his belly
that can’t quit,
that wants to eat the bears and elephants,
that doesn’t care if you whine or moan,
or give other excuses for being weak.

The other day I had some kid whine,
and I whirled on him and spoke in a low voice,
a voice so tinged with intention that every other kid in the room
froze and couldn’t help but listen.
‘I’m saving your life.’

It was an electric moment.
A moment when eyes blinked and ears opened.

‘What…what?’
The kid stumbled.

I said,
‘When somebody pushes you to the floor,
are you going to whine about your boo boo?
Or roll up and tear his face off?’

I turned to the class.
‘When the teacher or boss says work,
are you going to whine?
Or are you going to work so hard his face falls off?

I said,
‘Are you kids?
Children?
Need somebody to cry for you?
Or are you martial artists?’

It was a good moment.
A hard moment.
If you treat a child as a child,
he will grow up immature.
If you treat a child as an adult,
he will grow up mature.

Anyway,
I’ll keep you advised as the adventure continues.
For now,
if you want to learn how to teach,
I suggest the
THE MASTER INSTRUCTOR COURSE
it has the exact procedure
for getting the idea in your head
into the student’s head.
It has the six tools to make ANY technique no matter what!
It has the seven corrections which make form perfect,
and your body able to generate and support vast amounts of energy.

Now,
have yourself a GREAT work out!

1d Master Instructor Course

A WIN!
Master Case,
I got the Master Instructors Course yesterday.  Holy CRAP.  I wish I had bought this when I bought the Matrix Karate course.  This info is amazing.  I have been studying Martial Arts most of my life, this info is a confirmation that I was on the right track but I was missing some key pieces of information.  The way you explain things about energy transfer is phenomenal.  I also love how you debunk the stance myths in other arts.  I have been doing that for a while and I was glad to see that someone else other than myself is doing it as a part of their teaching curriculum.  I love it.  I will be sending you my testing videos for Matrix Karate by the end of the week.

Best Regards,

Joshua

The Strongest Martial Arts Weapon in the World!

Newsletter 957

The Secret Weapon of the True Martial Arts

You know,
there is a Neutronics principle I never mentioned.
Strongest thing in the universe,
and nobody talks about it.
They just do their forms,
without innovating,
never looking for hidden techniques,
never doing them right side, left side, backwards, upside down.
Never investing them with spirit.
Doing a form like a tiger, a snake, a piano.
Never jiggling,
moving left inside of right,
never questioning the authority of the form.
These people don’t have the secret weapon of the martial arts.
They don’t have…
IMAGINATION!

Some people think muscles are important,
but there is always somebody stronger.
Some people think speed is important.
It is,
but good technique beats speed.
Some people think your will,
your desire, your intention,
is what’s important.
Sure it is,
but imagination is stronger.
A fellow throws the strongest punch in the universe at your face,
you simply imagine yourself sidestepping.
A fellow grabs you and decides to throw you on the ground,
you imagine yourself sinking your weight into a stance.
A fellow points a gun at you,
you imagine somebody behind him,
you point and say, ‘OMG!’
then,
while he turns to look,
you run away.
Imagination,
the strongest thing in the universe.
No matter what faces you,
imagination can beat it.

Of course,
it helps if you practice.
Practice your forms and techniques,
your freestyle.
And,
most of all,
PRACTICE YOUR IMAGINATION!

How do you practice imagination?
Practice doing the opposite.
If somebody says you can’t do something,
you wonder…
Why?
Why not?
Why can’t I?

If a cop says you can’t turn left and leaves…
turn left.

If a parent says ‘go to sleep,’
stay up all night.

If a teacher says you’ll flunk if you don’t get your homework done,
flunk.

If a sensei says to do the form this way…
do it the other way.
The other side.
Backwards.
Like an animal.
Like an angel.
Like a devil.
Like a barking dog.
Like whatever you want.

Whenever somebody tells me that life is this way,
I automatically think of the other way.
Why should I live like a cop,
parent, teacher, boss, preacher, bum, doctor, lawyer, politician
tells me to?

Why should I let somebody else live my life?
Why can’t I make my own mistakes?
After all,
every mistake is a lesson,
so shouldn’t I be able to learn my own lessons?

It’s all possible through imagination.
It’s all possible if you just close your eyes for a moment,
then open them,
and then do the opposite of whatever whoever told you.

I got tired of kids doing push ups with their butts in the air.
So I make them hold ‘downward dog.’
Zingo bingo,
they is larnin’ yoga!
I got tired of them sagging in push ups,
you got it,
‘upward dog.’
more yoga.

I have them do
the gator, the monkey, the rabbit, the frog,
AND THEY LOVE IT!
Now it’s more than a work out,
it’s a game,
it’s play.

So remember,
every mistake is a lesson,
but only if you have the imagination,
only if you open your eyes and look,
only if you do the opposite.

Remember
the Neutronic principle.

For something to be true
the opposite must also be true.

Have imagination,
do the opposite.
Never be bound by someone else.

And whatever you do,
I’m telling you you have to,
if you don’t you will be a bum!
You have to do what I say,
never mind all that imagination stuff,
you have to…

2d Create Your Own Art

A WIN!
Hello Mr. Case. I recently purchased the Create Your Own Art course from you. As I have told you in the past I studied Hsing-i quan. Lately I have been having lots of trouble in my practice. At one time I had what I called the Hsing -i “kernal of power” but as of recently I have been unable to do it correctly. The power was bleeding off somewhere in the transitions between stances. I looked at your book Buddha Crane Karate book and I noticed that you have the foot in an elevated position much like the Seven Star stance of Northern Mantis before the step and strike. Well on a hunch I jumped up and ran in the other room and tried it in the Pi quan form and presto! All the power was back.

The Secret of Doing the Martial Arts Backwards

Newsletter 956

Going Backwards in the Martial Arts

Have you ever thought about
the actual process involved in fighting?
Most people think it is hit the other guy quicker,
but that is so inadequate
so far from the truth.

You stand and face Bozo Bob.
Bozo Bob has a thought:
hit you.
First:
you have to pick up the thought,
see the technique he is going to use
Then:
you have to reverse the thought
understand the technique from your viewpoint
because you saw it from his viewpoint.
It is reversed from your viewpoint.
You need to reverse it in your mind.

You need to reverse it
so you don’t create a defense that is backwards.
Then:
you have to create the defense…and do it.

Now,
that is the simplicity.
More to it
of course
but that is the simple truth.
So how do you reverse
the thought of his attack
so you don’t make a backwards defense?

In classical karate,
and other arts with forms,
we do the forms.
We practice controlling the bodies,
we practice the defenses for the moves
until everything is intuitive.

Think back to when you first began,
chances are,
most people go through this,
you went through what I call
‘backwarditis’

Backwarditis is when you do things backwards.
The teacher says right,
the students does left.
The teacher says step backward,
the student steps forward.
The teacher says do the technique on the right side
the student does it on the left side.
This is backwarditis.
Teachers everywhere experience it
They blink,
and keep going,
and the student eventually gets over it.

But nobody knows why the student does everything backwards.
Now you know.
The student looks at the attack
and it is backward in his mind
because he is observing somebody else do it,
so he makes a backward defense.
Eventually,
he gets over it,
without understanding
he finally absorbs the data
and begins moving correctly.
Knowing this should help you
when you construct self defenses,
it will help you get over trace backwarditis
and learn new things quicker.
It will help you make the bridge to intuitivity.

Now,
here’s a couple of interesting things.
Arts where the student doesn’t experience backwarditis
are lacking something.
Arts which don’t have forms
are missing the step for getting rid of backwarditis.

For instance,
MMA doesn’t have forms,
any experiences of backwarditis
are quick and fleeting.
The bodies are intertwined,
they are positioned
so that backwarditis doesn’t happen.
BUT…
to be an art there should be backwarditis.
It is a step of evolution that is necessary
lest the student doesn’t experience proper growth,
he doesn’t go through the stages of learning
that are in the martial arts.

Don’t get me wrong,
I am not bashing MMA,
I am just describing the effects of theory
and the teaching method
and what to look for in a student.
Heck,
there are things in MMA
that other arts don’t have.
But we are just looking at the teaching/learning method here.

Anyway,
there are several ‘cures’
things to help the student make the shift
to thinking backwards in his head intuitively

First,
when doing basics at the beginning of class
do them facing the same way as the class.
Then,
doing them facing the class.
Watch carefully,
see who has got the wrong foot forward,
correct him gently.
And keep going back and forth
every few exercises,
facing the students
then facing away from the students.
This is pretty easy and good to do.

Second,
make sure they practice their techniques on both sides,
have them perform their forms on both sides,
and even have them do the forms backward.
And backwards on both sides.
The students will get over backwarditis
their minds will be quick and agile,
will duplicate what an attack is correctly,
and build a defense that is not backwards.

If you want to know something fascinating things about forms
how they are constructed,
and even construct some yourselves,
I recommend the
‘Create Your Own Art’ course

2d Create Your Own Art

Do be warned,
the videos are poor quality.
You can still see them,
but the quality of video recorders
when I filmed this course
was REALLY caveman.
BUT
the material is spectacular,
and the Buddha Crane book
is even bundled in,
as an example of how to create an art.
There is also a progression of art through Pa Kua Chang
that is simply fascinating.
Really good stuff!

Have a great work out!
Al

Knowledge will give you power, but character respect.

Master the Martial Arts with the Eyes…

The Eyes Have It in the Martial Arts

I’ve got a student
and he can’t look at me.
His eyes focus on me briefly,
then he looks somewhere else,
down at the ground,
off to the side,
someplace,
and I know he is unconscious.
Unconscious being not conscious of me,
or,
taking his eyes off his attacker.
In the martial arts
if you take your eyes off the target,
the target hits you.
So I asked him,
have you ever flipped anybody off?
He got self conscious,
nodded and mumbled in the affirmative.
I said,
NO YOU DIDN’T!
Your body flipped them off,
and you told your body what to do.
There is a separation
you see,
between body and spirit.
I asked him if he ever took a leak.
He laughed and said yes.
I said,
NO YOU DIDN’T!
Your body leaked.
You didn’t leak,
you told your body to leak.
And he started to get it.
And here is the lesson.

You don’t look at the chest,
and try to see everything.
You don’t look at the hands/feet.
You look at the eyes because…
THE EYES ARE THE WINDOWS TO A MAN’S SOUL!

If a car was driving towards you
should you look at the driver or the car?
You look at the driver
because he is controlling the car.
He is the spirit behind 2000 pounds of metal.
So you look at the eyes,
and you look for the awareness
that is driving a 150 pounds of flesh and blood.
And that’s where you look.
Period.
And somebody who disagrees,
is simply WRONG,
and I prove it with my next words.
you see,
I told him one other thing.
A very important thing.
What is the one reason
you always look forward,
always keep the eyes open?
The answer is simple,
and yet so hard to grok and do.
The spirit radiates in all directions.
It is aware from the center of a sphere,
looking outward in all directions.
So the one reason a person always looks outward
is so that he doesn’t look inward.
You can’t defend yourself
if you are looking inward.
If you are looking inward,
you are not aware of what’s coming to hit you.
Remember:
the one reason,
the only reason,
for looking outward,
is so that you don’t look inward.

Here’s the obligatory advertisement,
do yourtself a favor and go there…

4ac Rolling Fists

This is the one drill I use
to train people to look outward,
it works,
and it is better than ANY drill
in ALL the martial arts.
I developed it myself,
putting the missing pieces into
some of the lop sau drills in other arts.
This is the complete and real deal.

Have a great work out!

Responding to Matrixing in the Martial Arts

Newsletter 954

The Two Responses to Matrixing in the Martial Arts!

People usually react in one of two ways
when I tell them about Matrixing and the Martial Arts.

In the first response,
it starts out with a fellow describing a technique.
Something he learned which blows him away,
or,
on the other side,
a technique he dismisses as worthless.

I say,
‘that’s interesting,
but what about the other four ways of doing the technique?’
They blink then.
The world is black and white to blinkers,
and they never think of the colors.
Finally,
they force it out,
‘What other three ways?’

So I tell them about the truth table,
how to matrix techniques,
usually turns into an interesting discussion
concerning how force and flow work in the martial arts.
Which is interesting.
Most artists,
except for an occasional technique,
have no idea of the force and the flow,
they just hit or throw,
tain’t nothin’ else,
specially not no three ‘other’ techniques.

And the discussion goes out on the mat,
blinks turn into open eyes,
and they are usually blown away.
I don’t fight them,
I just show opportunities and deviations
which they have never thought of.

Now,
the second way people react?
That usually happens when they are talking,
or worse,
reading,
and can’t let go of their opinion.
They feel that if they let go of their opinion
they have lost themselves,
their autonomy,
their sense of self,
their worth.

They aren’t there with me,
you see,
so I can’t take them out on the mat,
and show them what I am talking about.
And here is the VERY sad truth.

Most people don’t know how to read,
can’t understand written directions.
Of course Matrixing makes no sense to them,
even sounds bogus.
But they are filtering everything through their minds,
and everything is tainted and slanted by their inability
to read and understand
So what do they do?
They attack me as a scamster,
as an internet get rich quicker dude.
And the gold floats past their eyes.

Inside,
they know something has happened,
and it infuriates them even more.
They were so close,
and yet…they missed.
And they are stuck in the mess of the martial arts.

Let me finish by saying something:
the martial arts are a maze.
They are a path from you to…you.
You study,
you practice,
you become enlightened and discover…yourself.

Except,
the path has been so messed up by
politics,
inability to read,
vested interests,
commercialism,
tournaments,
nationalism,
THE DESIRE TO BE RIGHT…
to be an authority and to dominate.,
that is it virtually closed.

So Matrixing opens up and straightens out the path,
makes it quick and easy,
gets rid of mysticism and stupidity.
But you either have to be smart enough to read and understand,
or experience it directly from me
or somebody who has taken a few courses.

And those are the two responses to Matrixing in the Martial Arts.

Have a great work out!

Here’s a great win…

A WIN!

Master Al,

Matrixing is a scientific approach the same as quantitative research and mastering it from that standpoint.

I have seen and experienced many individuals whose goals are usually to beat people up, be the top dog, create an Alpha male environment. Though martial arts is about winning to save your life there is a higher purpose and that is to polish one’s mind to a higher state of consciousness.

I feel that as a group we have lost our true calling of polishing ourselves and true potential due to the misguided thinking that one way is better than another. It is true we must test ourselves with competition but, we should also be wise in how we choose our fights and when to fight and hurt someone.

Respectfully,

A New Martial Arts Master Instructor Testimonial!

A New Martial Arts Master Instructor!

Super congrats to new Master Instructor
Maj (ret) Paul von Hacker

Here is Paul’s win…

Master Case,
Let me begin by saying I had high expectations and your course exceeded them. You are the most articulate and scientific instructor I’ve ever had and I find that to be exceptionally effective when learning. I’ve studied a number of systems in 25 years and found differing aspects of each that I’ve incorporated into my personal skill set. From a striking perspective I tend to enjoy karate and boxing. Footwork tends to be boxing and pa qua oriented. My ground experience has been almost exclusively Jiu jitsu. The only weapon I’ve ever really studied was dear horned knives and then knives.

From my perspective your master instructor course is a must have. I’ve taught numerous classes in non-martial arts settings. As an Air Force officer it was just part of the job. I am very analytical with regards to instruction so your method truly broke each area down into very concise sub areas that I felt were masterfully pieced together.

(Paul has described the course in detail here, so we move to his conclusion…)

Conclusion: Sir, I have met many skilled practitioners in martial arts. I have worked with men and women whose skill and technique were inspiring but I have never met anyone who put it all together. I was speaking to a 3rd Dan Judo BB in the local area. He runs a school and I have gone over from time to time on sparring night. He has an open mat sparring session to enable his students to spar with other students from various disciplines. I began explaining your matrixed concepts to him and he was a bit cautious. So I explained it this way. If one wanted a degree in computer science one would have to accumulate 120 credits towards the degree, roughly 70% of that is not related to the degree. If one could instead take the 50 credits toward the degree it would take roughly 3 semesters. It is a simplified way to explain it but one I explained it that way he understood. Then we sparred and had a good time and the entire time I was watching, in-between bouts, I found myself using the corrections and the tools and the amazing things is I am not very educated in Judo. The fact that I could ID areas of poor grounding, misalignment, and bad CBM speaks to the simplicity and complexity of the material covered.
On your website you mentioned pricing being low so numerous people could benefit, that is laudable but I recommend you increase your pricing. The work you’ve accumulated it the totality of your life endeavor. Imagine it this may, during WW II the greatest minds on the planet struggled to unlock the atom. In 2019, any student can crack open a book and read the equations used, theories proved, and any semi-educated person could go back in time and explain the concepts easily and concisely to Einstein and his team. You’ve unlocked the atom! You’ve taken this light years from where it was, steam engine and propeller air plane to atom splitting attack sub and to top it all off you’ve articulate enough to explain it in the most concise manner I’ve ever seen.
Maj Paul von Hacker III, USAF, Ret

congrats and well done Master Instructor Hacker,
and thank you.

And,
to everybody,
this is a world which has been educated out of common sense.
it has become bound by myths and lies.
People make up reasons when they don’t understand the real reasons.
For these reasons the martial arts suffer,
and people circle on the rim
and never experience the real martial arts.
The real martial arts are simple,
and the Master Instructor course is the key that unlocks them.

Again,
congrats to Paul,
and…
Have a great work out!

Here’s a Christmas win…

A WIN!

Merry Christmas my friend. I love what you do, and you’ve changed the way I approach the arts that I love. 2018 marks my 40th year as a martial artist, and I believe that what you do is so important to us true believers. Please remember that innovation is always going to be violently resisted initially. What you do is absolutely logical, and it’s impossible for any sane man to argue with logic. Press on with pride brother. You ARE making history and a legacy. Best wishes and thanks.
